Nucleoside transport inhibition and fMLP-stimulated whole blood luminescence
Journal of Molecular and Cellular Cardiology, 1991Adenosine (ADO) has a pharmacological profile which makes it an interesting 'drug' to handle many of the problems arising with ischemia and reperfusion. In human blood, however, it is rapidly taken up by the red blood cells and metabolized to inactive inosine and hypoxanthine. This transporter-mediated uptake can be specifically inhibited in vitro by a

MAPKAPK2-mediated LSP1 phosphorylation and FMLP-induced neutrophil polarization
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2007In neutrophils, the major substrate of MAPKAPK2 (MK2) is an F-actin binding protein LSP1. Studies using mutants of the two potential Serine phosphorylation sites in LSP1 C-terminal F-actin binding region indicated that the major phosphorylation site for MK2 is Ser243 in murine neutrophils (Ser252 in humans).

An evaluation of fMLP pocket dimensions and features using formyltetrapeptides
The Journal of Peptide Research, 1999Abstract: The formyltetrapeptides for‐Met‐Leu‐Leu‐Phe‐OMe 1, for‐Met‐Leu‐Aib‐Phe‐OMe 2, for‐Met‐Leu‐Ac6c‐Phe‐OMe 3, for‐Met‐Leu‐Pro‐Phe‐OMe 4, for‐Met‐Pro‐Pro‐Phe‐OMe 5, for‐Met‐Aib‐Aib‐Phe‐OMe 6, for‐Met‐Pro‐Aib‐Phe‐OMe 7 and for‐Met‐Aib‐Pro‐Phe‐OMe 8 were synthesized and biologically tested on human neutrophils in an attempt to evaluate the specific ...

Chemotactic peptide FMLP contracts human coronary arteries via cyclooxygenase products
American Journal of Physiology-Heart and Circulatory Physiology, 1990The chemotactic peptide N-formyl-L-methionyl-L-leucyl-L-phenylalanine (FMLP) is a constrictor of bronchial smooth muscle. Recently it has also been shown to contract rabbit coronary arteries by an unknown mechanism. This prompted us to investigate whether the chemotactic peptide has an effect on the tone of human coronary arteries obtained during ...

Flow cytometry analysis of the expression of neutrophil FMLP receptors
Journal of Immunological Methods, 1992The number of cell surface FMLP receptors expressed by peripheral blood neutrophils taken from healthy individuals was quantitated using a direct fluorescence label analysed on the FACScan. Receptor numbers, assayed on cells from heparinised blood prepared at 4 degrees C or 37 degrees C or in the presence of LPS (30 ng/ml) were 12,540 +/- SD 2413, 18 ...

Anaesthetic sensitivity of fMLP-induced cell signalling in Xenopus oocytes
International Immunopharmacology, 2006FMLP stimulation of Xenopus oocytes expressing fMLP receptors leads to a concentration-dependent biphasic inward current. To identify the evolution of these currents we have examined the effects of blocking various cell signalling pathways. In addition we have analysed the effects of three intravenous anaesthetics on these fMLP-induced currents ...

Adrenomedullin Suppresses fMLP-Induced Upregulation of CD11b of Human Neutrophils
Inflammation, 2001In this study we investigated the effect of adrenomedullin (AM) on fMLP-mediated activation of human neutrophils. AM partially, but significantly, suppressed fMLP-induced upregulation of CD11b expression. The inhibitory effects of AM upon fMLP-induced upregulation of CD11b expression were completely blocked by CGRP [8-37], a CGRP receptor antagonist ...

fMLP causes degranulation followed by regranulation in rat nasal glands
The Laryngoscope, 2003AbstractObjective: To determine the mechanism of mucus production by nasal glands. Study Design: Because neutrophilic inflammation is associated with mucus hypersecretion in disease states, here we examine the role of neutrophil recruitment in mucous cell degranulation and regranulation in rat nasal glands.

A modified Mixture of FMLP Experts for face recognition
2008 7th IEEE International Conference on Cybernetic Intelligent Systems, 2008In this paper we present a new face recognition model with principal component analysis in the feature extraction phase, and a Mixture of Fuzzy MLP Experts with Momentum term, in the recognition phase. We compared three different structures of neural network in which the average performance of Mixture of MLP Experts without Fuzzy MLP turned out to be ...

Stochastic MIMO channel modelling using FMLP-based inference engine
International Journal of Information and Communication Technology, 2013A fuzzy-neural FN estimator of stochastic multi-input-multi-output MIMO wireless channels shows dependence on the membership and inference rule generation norms adopted. These two factors decide the ability of the fuzzy-estimator to capture the subtle variations in the input signal patterns and provide corresponding responses with optimum performance ...
