Highly purified FSH was obtained from several batches of bovine pituitaries by sequential application of the following procedures: 1) extraction with an alcoholic sodium acetate buffer, 2) fractionation with metaphosphoric acid, 3) fractionation with ammonium sulfate, 4) gel filtration on Sephadex G-150, 5) ion exchange chromatography on CM-Sephadex, 6)

ORAL CONTRACEPTIVES AND FOLLICLE-STIMULATING HORMONE
The Lancet, 1968The authors report the effects of an oral contraceptive on plasma levels of follicle-stimulating-hormone (FSH) as measured by a double-antibody method of radioimmunoassay. Reichert 780 pituitary FSH labelled with iodine-131 and rabbit antihuman FSH serum were used with the International Reference Preparation number 2 of human menopausal gonadotrophin ...

About 15 % of all couples experience infertility at some time during their reproductive lives. Nowadays, infertility can be treated by the use of assisted reproductive technologies (ART), such as in vitro fertilization (IVF) and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI).

Bioassays of Follicle Stimulating Hormone
Endocrine Reviews, 1988With the availability of these highly sensitive in vitro assays, measurement of bio-FSH in serum and urine becomes possible. Clinical studies have been done to investigate the role of bioactive FSH in different physiological and pathological conditions. There are however problems with these assays.

Immunology of Follicle-Stimulating Hormone and Luteinizing Hormone
1970Publisher Summary This chapter discusses immunology of follicle-stimulating hormone and luteinizing hormone. Although great strides have been made in the last few years due to the introduction of modern physiochemical techniques, absolute purity of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) has not yet been attained.

Spurious elevation of follicle‐stimulating hormone
Acta Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, 1992Serum concentrations of follicle‐stimulating hormone (FSH) were measured in a 33‐year‐old eurnenorrhoeic woman with primary infertility. Postmenopausal levels were obtained. Using an alternative assay, the patient was found to have normal levels of FSH. The probable cause of the misleading result is discussed.

Follicle stimulating hormone as a predictor of fertility
Current Opinion in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, 1998Tests for diminished ovarian reserve provide valuable prognostic information for women considering assisted reproductive technology. The best characterized screening tool for a general infertility patient is the clomiphene citrate challenge test. These screening tests do not have absolute sensitivity or specificity.

Recombinant Follicle Stimulating Hormone
1990Follicle Stimulated Hormone (FSH) α and s genes have been isolated. The genes were inserted into a single vector such that expression is directed by two juxtaposed transcription units. The DNA has subsequently been transferred to Chinese Hamster Ovary (CHO) cells and transfected cell clones have been isolated.

Regulation of Follicle-Stimulating Hormone Receptor
Hormone Research, 1996The acquisition of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) receptors during folliculogenesis is believed to be a key event in follicle development. We have examined the effects of FSH and activin on FSH receptor mRNA in cultured rat granulosa cells. Treatment of granulosa cells with FSH resulted in transient suppression of the FSH receptor mRNA levels 2-6 h

Receptors | Thyroid-Stimulating Hormone/Luteinizing Hormone/Follicle-Stimulating Hormone Receptors
2021The thyroid-stimulating hormone receptor (TSHR), luteinizing hormone receptor (LHCGR), and follicle-stimulating hormone receptor (FSHR) are collectively referred to as the glycoprotein hormone receptors because they bind structurally similar glycoprotein hormones.
