Follicular dynamics in Mangalarga mares

Equine Veterinary Journal, 1997
Summary Ovarian follicular activity was studied by ultrasonography during 17 oestrous cycles in 9 Mangalarga mares during the second half of the ovulatory season. Sixteen oestrous cycles were considered normal and one 3‐wave cycle showing a prolonged luteal phase was considered atypical.

Follicular and hormonal dynamics during the first follicular wave in heifers

Theriogenology, 1999
A few days after the first follicular wave emerges as 4-mm follicles, follicular deviation occurs wherein 1 follicle of the wave continues to grow (dominant follicle) while the others regress. The objectives of this study were to characterize follicle growth and associated changes in systemic concentrations of gonadotropins and estradiol at 8-h ...

Follicular dynamics around the recruitment of the first follicular wave in the cow.

Biology of reproduction, 2003
The present study aimed to test the generally accepted view that a follicular wave starts with follicles newly recruited from the population smaller than 3 mm, which later compete for dominance. According to this view, subordinate follicles are expected to be too atretic to join the next follicular wave.

Follicular dynamics, repeatability and predictability of follicular recruitment in cows undergoing repeated follicular puncture

Theriogenology, 1997
The aim of our study was to characterize follicular recruitment and growth in response to the repeated removal of follicles. All tertiary follicles (> 2 mm of diameter) in the ovaries of 10 non-lactating Holstein Friesian cows were punctured at midcycle (Day 0) by means of an ultrasound-guided needle. Puncture sessions were scheduled twice weekly at 3-

Follicular dynamics in the polycystic ovary syndrome

Molecular and Cellular Endocrinology, 2000
Anovulation in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is characterised by arrested growth of antral follicles. A relative lack of FSH may contribute to the persistence of anovulation but is unlikely, by itself, to be a major cause of it. Granulosa cells from anovulatory women with polycystic ovaries hypersecrete oestradiol, compared with size ...

An Analysis of Follicular Punches, Mechanics, and Dynamics in Follicular Unit Extraction

Facial Plastic Surgery Clinics of North America, 2013
Success in follicular unit extraction requires an understanding of forces, fluid dynamics, instrumentation, and individual patient variation. Sharp punches require a lower axial and tangential force to dissect follicular groups. The angle of hair emergence and the size of a punch influence the wound size and the depth of an incision.

Effects of Breed on Follicular Dynamics and Oestradiol Secretion during the Follicular Phase in Sheep

Reproduction in Domestic Animals, 2007
ContentsCurrent study evaluates effects from breed and management background on follicular dynamics and endocrine output during the follicular phase of sheep oestrous cycle. Follicular phases were synchronized with three cloprostenol doses, 10 days apart, in three groups of 10 females of different non‐prolific Spanish breeds (Manchega, Rubia del Molar ...

Hormonal Dynamics During Luteal-Follicular Transition*

The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, 1987
To gain insights into the neuroendocrine basis for the initiation of folliculogenesis, the hormonal dynamics during the period from the late luteal to the early follicular phase of the menstrual cycle (the luteal-follicular transition) were examined.

Follicular Dynamics and Apoptosis Following Unilateral Oophorectomy

Systems Biology in Reproductive Medicine, 2010
Ovarian physiology has been based on the assumption that the mammalian ovary has a constant germ cell pool. According to this accepted doctrine primordial follicles, which are limited in number, are depleted through ovulation or atresia. Therefore, the primary goal of this study was to examine the follicle dynamics and morphologic apoptotic changes ...

Follicular dynamics prior to and during superovulation in heifers

Theriogenology, 1993
The present ultrasonographic study examined the relationship between certain follicular parameters and the superovulatory response in gonadotropin-stimulated heifers. Thirty heifers received a total of 35 mg FSH twice daily for 4 d and 0.75 mg cloprostenol were given to induce luteolysis and estrus at 72 h after the initial FSH injection.
