Characteristics of follicular fluid in ovaries with endometriomas
European Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Reproductive Biology, 2017The study of follicular fluid (FF) content nearby endometriomas may assist in elucidating pathophysiology, possible biomarkers related to this disease and the effect of endometriomas on ovarian physiology. As the question "how endometrioma may intrude the physiology of ovarian tissue?" is still open, we aimed to summarize the molecular evidence ...

Formation of lipoidal steroids in follicular fluid
Journal of Steroid Biochemistry, 1989The presence of high levels of lipoidal pregnenolone in follicular fluid has recently been established although no evidence has been presented concerning its possible origin. The following investigation focuses on the enzymatic conversion of non-conjugated steroids into their lipoidal derivatives in preovulatory follicular fluid obtained from women ...

A STUDY OF THE PROTEINS IN THE FOLLICULAR FLUID OF THE COW
Journal of Endocrinology, 1957SUMMARY The protein composition of the follicular fluid of the cow has been investigated. Paper electrophoresis showed that the protein components were qualitatively similar to those of blood serum, although there were some quantitative differences.

Antispermatozoal Antibodies in Human Follicular Fluid
American Journal of Reproductive Immunology and Microbiology, 1985ABSTRACT:The possibility of antispermatozoal antibodies in women having significant effects in the higher regions of the female reproductive tract has been investigated. Follicular fluids (FF) and sera taken at the time of oocyte recovery from women undergoing in vitro fertilisation and embryo transfer (IVF‐ET) were tested for the presence of ...

Melatonin in Human Preovulatory Follicular Fluid*
The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, 1987Melatonin, the major hormone of the pineal gland, has antigonadotrophic activity in many mammals and may also be involved in human reproduction. Melatonin suppresses steroidogenesis by ovarian granulosa and luteal cells in vitro. To determine if melatonin is present in the human ovary, preovulatory follicular fluids (n = 32) from 15 women were assayed ...

As the oocyte nears its maximum size fluid begins to accumulate in small droplets between the granulosa cells. The Call-Exner bodies, once regarded as sources of oocytes, are now recognized to be such fluid accumulations (Brambell 1956). These droplets eventually coalesce to form the antrum of the developing follicle.

Human Follicular Fluid Insulin Concentrations*
The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, 1985In mammals, insulin stimulates granulosa cell aromatase activity and steroid production and is a regulating factor of oocyte maturation. To assess the role of insulin in human follicular and oocyte maturation, human follicular fluid was obtained 32-36 h after hCG administration at the time of oocyte recovery for in vitro fertilization.
