B Cells are Activated via a Nanoporous Interface that Stabilizes Microvilli and Engages Mechanosensitive Ion Channels

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
B cells can be activated independently of antigen recognition via mechanical stimulation through nanoporous substrates. Exposure to such substrates induced B cell microvilli extension into the pores, intracellular Ca2+ signaling, phosphorylation of signaling proteins, and CD69 expression.

Phosphate concentrations in follicular fluid during assisted reproductive treatment: relevance for ovarian function and fertility outcomes

open access: yesReproductive Biology and Endocrinology
Background The role of follicular fluid phosphate for reproductive health and oocyte maturation is unclear. This study investigates the relationship between follicular fluid vs serum phosphate concentrations and the possible link with sex steroids during

Quantitative mass spectrometric analysis to unravel glycoproteomic signature of follicular fluid in women with polycystic ovary syndrome.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2019
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a complex endocrinopathy affecting women of reproductive age, and whose etiology is not well understood yet. In these women, the follicular growth is arrested at preantral stage leading to cyst formation, consequently ...

SDF‐1 Attenuates Oocyte Quality Decline During Reproductive Aging Through Autophagy‐Enhanced Stress Granule Scavenging

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
SDF‐1 levels decline significantly with maternal aging. Exogenous supplementation restores meiotic spindle morphology, chromosomal alignment, and mitochondrial function while reducing oxidative stress in aged oocytes. Mechanistically, SDF‐1 enhances autophagic activity to clear accumulated stress granules, thereby rescuing fertilization competence and ...

An Innervated Human Skin Equivalent that Electrically Encodes Mechanical and Thermal Stimuli

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An innervated human skin equivalent is integrated with high‐density microelectrode arrays to reveal how engineered free nerve ending–like structures translate touch and temperature into electrical codes. Mechanical indentation and thermal stimulation engage the engineered somatosensory circuitry and evoke distinct firing and waveform signatures ...

POORLY DIFFERENTIATED FOLLICULAR THYROID CARCINOMA: PROGNOSTIC FACTORS AND RELEVANCE OF HISTOLOGICAL CLASSIFICATION [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Background. Poorly differentiated follicular carcinomas (PDFC) of the thyroid represent an heterogeneous but distinct group of tumors, clinically and histopathogenetically intermediate between follicular-derived well-differentiated and anaplastic ...

Source of Prolactin in Human Follicular Fluid.

open access: yesEndocrinologia Japonica, 1992
To analyze whether prolactin (PRL) in human follicular fluid (FF) is synthesized locally or derived from the circulation, PRL concentrations of plasma and FF were determined in the patients after ovarian stimulations. The amounts of PRL messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA) in the follicular tissues during different menstrual phases were also determined ...

Application and Single‐Cell Regulation Mechanism of Engineered EVs Combined With 4D‐Printed Hydrogel for Infected Burn Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
4D bioprinted hydrogel loaded with FGF2‐modified extracellular vesicles (4D@F‐EVs) targets dermal fibroblasts and elevates local wound FGF2 levels via sustained release of F‐EVs. It activates PI3K‐Akt signaling, restores critical KGF+ fibroblast–KGFR+ keratinocyte crosstalk, enhances robust angiogenesis and collagen deposition to efficiently repair ...

Electronics‐Free Visual Monitoring of Dry Eye Disease‐Related Tear Biomarkers Using Smart Scleral Lenses

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An electronics‐free smart scleral lens passively monitors dry eye disease‐related tear biomarkers through colorimetric sensing of chloride, pH, and ocular surface temperature. Smartphone‐assisted image analysis enables quantitative interpretation, providing a simple, non‐invasive strategy for ocular health monitoring without integrated electronics ...
