The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

A novel low molecular weight compound polysaccharides from Chinese herbal medicines: purification, characterization and anti-tumor activities in vitro and in vivo

open access: yesFood Science and Human Wellness
A novel low molecular weight compound polysaccharide (LMW-CPS) was identified from a specific combination of Chinese herb ingredients. The monosaccharide composition of LMW-CPS was consisted of single arabinose, which had an α-L-furanose configuration ...

Food Chain Processes and Food Quality

open access: yes, 2017
This chapter examines the relationship between the quality of foods and the processes in the food chains that deliver those foods. Food quality is ultimately a question of consumer perception. Actors in the food chain should have the common goal of delivering high-quality food to consumers.

PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

Response Surface Methodology Optimization of Exosome-like Nanovesicles Extraction from Lycium ruthenicum Murray and Their Inhibitory Effects on Aβ-Induced Apoptosis and Oxidative Stress in HT22 Cells

open access: yesFoods
Exosome-like nanovesicles (ELNs) derived from plants are nanoscale vesicles isolated from edible plant sources. Lycium ruthenicum Murray (LRM) has garnered growing attention for its dietary value and therapeutic benefits.

YAP1::TFE3 mediates endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal plasticity in epithelioid hemangioendothelioma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The YAP1::TFE3 fusion protein drives endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EndMT) plasticity, resulting in the loss of endothelial characteristics and gain of mesenchymal‐like properties, including resistance to anoikis, increased migratory capacity, and loss of contact growth inhibition in endothelial cells.
