Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

Stimulator of interferon genes agonist augmented antitumor immunity of osimertinib in Egfr‐mutated lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining osimertinib with the STING agonist ADU‐S100 activates innate and adaptive immunity to overcome the non‐inflamed microenvironment of Egfr‐mutant lung cancer. This combination increases NK and CD8+ T‐cell infiltration, associated with activation of the STING‐IRF3 pathway and local immunogenic cell death.

Food preservation process design

open access: yesProcedia Food Science, 2011
AbstractPreservation processes for food products have evolved over time as more fundamental information about the factors influencing the processes have become available. Traditionally, thermal processes have been used for preservation of both shelf-stable and refrigerated foods.

PAK1 activation drives divergent resistance mechanisms to aromatase inhibition and tamoxifen in a luminal: A breast cancer model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Breast cancer remains a major cause of cancer death in women, frequently developing endocrine therapy resistance. This study demonstrates that upregulated p21‐activated kinase 1 (PAK1) activity drives resistance to tamoxifen and long‐term estrogen deprivation in ER+ breast cancer models.

Design as a tool to reduce food waste: Presentation of salvage food in grocery stores [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
The global issue of food waste affects us all. Measures to reduce food waste have been introduced at various places, but there is still a need for development of new strategies. How grocery stores present their salvage food and the measures taken to sell

Effects of monoglucosyl hesperidin on human lymphatic circulatory function: A randomized placebo-controlled, double-blind, crossover trial

open access: yesScientific Reports
Monoglucosyl hesperidin promotes nitric oxide production in vascular endothelial cells and contributes to blood flow improvement and edema reduction. While preclinical studies in animal subjects have also suggested a role in promoting lymphatic drainage,
