Structure‐forward targeting of claudins with synthetic binders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Claudins form the paracellular barriers between epithelial and endothelial tissues at tight junctions and are targets for molecular binders with the goal of modulating barrier permeability. Claudin‐binding molecules are relevant in drug delivery or in altering claudin interactions with disease‐causing proteins.

Nutrient/TOR signaling controls adipose mitochondrial transcription factor A (TFAM) to regulate organismal growth in Drosophila

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Animals must match their growth rate to available nutrients. We show that in Drosophila larvae, the nutrient‐sensing TOR kinase controls growth by regulating levels of TFAM, a key regulator of mitochondrial function, in the adipose tissue. When nutrients are abundant, high TOR activity suppresses TFAM, lowering mitochondrial bioenergetic activity and ...

Enriching Wheat Bread With Banana Peel Powder: Impact on Nutritional Attributes, Bioactive Compounds, and Antioxidant Activity

open access: yesInternational Journal of Food Science
This research investigated the impact of enriching bread with banana peel powder (BPP) on nutritional attributes, bioactive components, antioxidant activity, and sensory characteristics. Four bread samples were prepared and evaluated: S1 (control), S2 (5%

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Digestibility and Physicochemical Characteristics of Blood Sausages Made with Korean Traditional Fermented Food

open access: yesFood Science of Animal Resources
This study evaluated the quality characteristics of blood sausages where salt (NaCl) was replaced with traditional Korean fermented foods. Five types of traditional fermented materials were used as salt substitutes: Doenjang (T1), Gochujang (T2 ...

GRAIN EXTRUSION OF MIXTURES ON THE BASIS OF GERMINATED TRITICALE

open access: yesАлматы технологиялық университетінің хабаршысы, 2021
Extrusion of grain mixtures on the basis of sprouted triticale is considered. It is noted that the temperature zones that correspond to the evaporation of moisture formed during thermal decomposition of the studied mixtures, taking into account the low ...

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...
