Some effects of parasitism on food web structure: a topological analysis [PDF]
So far most of the food webs lack parasitism. It has been found that parasites can profoundly affect food web properties. In this study we tried to consider parasitism in the food web analysis in order to provide a basis for further and more complete ...

Effect of multiple disturbances on food web vulnerability to biodiversity loss in detritus-based systems [PDF]
Global biodiversity is affected by human pressure and climate change, and the present rate of biodiversity loss is probably higher than ever before. Community composition is also changing, and interspecific interactions are under severe pressure.

Ecology: Engineered food webs [PDF]
An important new study shows that, in a food web, the strengths and arrangement of the interactions between species are determining factors of stability of the system.

We present a mathematical analysis of the speciation model for food-web structure, which had in previous work been shown to yield a good description of empirical data of food-web topology. The degree distributions of the network are derived.

Early warning of complex climate risk with integrated artificial intelligence
As climate change accelerates, human societies face growing exposure to disasters and stress, highlighting the urgent need for effective early warning systems (EWS).

Within the context of the ecosystem approach to fisheries management, an ecosystem model was developed for the Balearic Islands in the early 2000s, covering from 0 to 800 m of depth.

Dispersal Dynamics in Food Webs [PDF]
Studies of food webs suggest that limited nonrandom dispersal can play an important role in structuring food webs. It is not clear, however, whether density-dependent dispersal fits empirical patterns of food webs better than density-independent dispersal.

Asynchronous food-web pathways could buffer the response of Serengeti predators to El Niño southern oscillation [PDF]
Understanding how entire ecosystems maintain stability in the face of climatic and human disturbance is one of the most fundamental challenges in ecology.

PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

Ecosystems are interconnected by energy fluxes that provide resources for the inhabiting organisms along the transition zone. Especially where in situ resources are scarce, ecosystems can become highly dependent on external resources.
