Stability of Axially Moving Piezolaminated Viscoelastic Plate Subjected to Follower Force

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2015
The stability of the moving viscoelastic plate with the piezoelectric layer subjected to uniformly distributed tangential follower force is investigated.

Numerical Simulation of Rock Plate Cutting with Three Sides Fixed and One Side Free

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2018
In order to overcome conical pick wear in the traditional rock cutting method, a new cutting method was proposed on account of increasing free surface of the rock.

Design of Torsion Plate Energy-Absorbing Member and Analysis of Energy-Absorbing and Anti-Impact Characteristics

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2023
In order to effectively improve the impact resistance performance of the roadway anti-impact hydraulic support and reduce the loss caused by rock burst to a certain extent, a torsion plate energy-absorbing member was designed for using with the hydraulic

3D vortex formation of rigid and flexible plates in impulsively starting motion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
This fluid dynamics video shows three-dimensional vortex formation process for plates in impulsive motion which is investigated experimentally by using defocusing digital particle image velocimetry (DDPIV).

Radiative forces on macroscopic porous bodies in protoplanetary disks: laboratory experiments

open access: yes, 2013
In optically thin parts of protoplanetary disks photophoresis is a significant force not just for dust grains, but also for macroscopic bodies. The absolute strength on the supposedly highly porous objects is not known in detail as yet.

Multiple ETS family transcription factors bind mutant p53 via distinct interaction regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mutant p53 gain‐of‐function is thought to be mediated by interaction with other transcription factors. We identify multiple ETS transcription factors that can bind mutant p53 and found that this interaction can be promoted by a PXXPP motif. ETS proteins that strongly bound mutant p53 were upregulated in ovarian cancer compared to ETS proteins that ...

Matter-screened Casimir force and Casimir-Polder force in planar structures

open access: yes, 2005
Using a recently developed theory of the Casimir force (Raabe C and Welsch D-G 2005 Phys. Rev. A 71 013814), we calculate the force that acts on a plate in front of a planar wall and the force that acts on the plate in the case where the plate is part of

Role of the tip vortex in the force generation of low-aspect-ratio normal flat plates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We investigate experimentally the force generated by the unsteady vortex formation of low-aspect-ratio normal flat plates with one end free. The objective of this study is to determine the role of the free end, or tip, vortex.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Development and Validation of a System for Game Control Based on a Force Plate

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
A force plate is a device that measures the ground reaction force caused by a shift in the human body’s center of mass (CoM). Using a controlled change in the human body’s CoM, the human body’s center of pressure (CoP) is shifted in a 2D plane, along ...
