A novel integrated framework for reproducible formability predictions using virtual materials testing

open access: yes, 2023
Background: Formed aluminium alloy sheet materials are increasingly adopted in production processes such as vehicle manufacturing, due to the potential for weight-saving and improved recyclability when compared to more traditional steel alloys.

A novel mechanical attachment for biaxial tensile test: Application to formability evaluation for DP590 at different temperatures

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
A novel mechanical attachment for conducting in-plane biaxial tensile test is provided in this paper. In this attachment, the conversion of force from an external actuator into two pairs of orthogonal forces is achieved by specially designed trapezoidal ...

Application of Different Hill’s Yield Criteria to Predict Limit Strains for Aerospace Titanium and Aluminum Sheet Alloys [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Advanced Design and Manufacturing Technology, 2014
More recently, Titanium and aluminum alloys are gaining more interests to be implemented in hydro-forming applications. It is necessary to predict forming limits for these sheet alloys.

Aluminum Alloy Sheet-Forming Limit Curve Prediction Based on Original Measured Stress–Strain Data and Its Application in Stretch-Forming Process

open access: yesMetals, 2019
A new method, by directly utilizing original measured data (OMD) of the stress−strain relation in the Marciniak−Kuczynski (M−K) model, was proposed to predict the forming limit curve (FLC) of an aluminum alloy sheet.

Formability limit curves under stretch-bending

open access: yes, 2011
A common strategy for stabilizing the greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere was the introduction of new emissions limits for cars, and light commercial vehicles. For that reason the automotive industry is facing new challenges in order to fulfill these considerations.

Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

Crystal Plasticity Finite Element Analyses on the Formability of AA6061 Aluminum Alloy with Different Ageing Treatments

open access: yesMetals
Different ageing treatments have been developed to achieve targeted properties in aluminum alloys through altering microstructures. However, there is a lack of understanding regarding the effect of ageing treatments on the formability of these alloys. In

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...
