Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Sheet metal forming limit predictions based on advanced constitutive equations

open access: yes, 2019
The present paper aims at analysing the strain and stress-based forming limits predicted by an advanced sheet metal forming limit model. The onset of localized necking is simulated through the Marciniak-Kuczinsky (MK) analysis [1]., which connects the ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Analysis of forming limits in metal forming processes

open access: yes, 2011
Forming limit plays a very important role in metal forming processes since it can be used to predict whether a blank will fracture or not. This paper examines the influence on forming limit of blank and fractured thickness.

Application of the continuum shell finite element SHB8PS to sheet forming simulation using an extended large strain anisotropic elastic–plastic formulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
http://link.springer.com/article/10.1007%2Fs00419-012-0620-xThis paper proposes an extension of the SHB8PS solid–shell finite element to large strain anisotropic elasto-plasticity, with application to several non-linear benchmark tests including sheet ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Effect of Process Parameters on the Forming Limit Angle of AA2024 Aluminum Alloy in Belt-Heated Incremental Sheet Forming

open access: yesMetals
In the belt-heated incremental sheet forming process, the influence of process parameters on the forming limit angle significantly affects the forming accuracy and quality of components.

Forming limit of hot-rolled high-strength steels considering sheet thickness effect [PDF]

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences
The forming limit curve (FLC) has been commonly used tool to predict the metal forming cracking in engineering. Whereas, based on the assumption of plane stress state, the formability prediction of thick sheet of hot-rolled high-strength steels is quite ...
