Determining a probabilistic forming limit curve

open access: yesAIP Conference Proceedings, 2013
Forming Limit Curves are surrounded by uncertainty - in particular the uncertainty surrounding the calculation of limit strains from experimental data. The position dependent method outlined in ISO12004-2 is known to make assumptions regarding the behavior of sheet metal at the onset of necking.

The Forming Limit Curve

SpringerBriefs in Applied Sciences and Technology, 2011
In a deforming sheet, the strain state is defined as the ratio between minor strain and major strain. The formability depends on this strain state and can be expressed as the so-called forming limit curve (FLC). In complex strain states the deformation is limited by an instability just as in a tensile test. In cases of negative minor strain this can be

Identification of forming limit curve at fracture in incremental sheet forming

International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, 2017
Computer-aided manufacturing technology is widely used in the sheet-forming industry to predict forming performance. Strain-based forming limit criterion is popularly used for this purpose. In incremental sheet forming, the forming limit curve at fracture (FLCF) is a line from the equi-biaxial strain-point to plane strain-point and is high in ...

Calculation of the forming limit curve at fracture

open access: yesJournal of Materials Science, 1983
The prediction of the forming limit diagram at fracture (FLDF) is of great importance, specially in cases where forming is controlled by fracture instead of necking. A physical model of coalescence is proposed in two cases of internal damage: (i) damage by decohesion of the particle matrix interface, and (ii) damage by failure of the particle.
