Instabilities of four-wave mixing

Nonlinear Guided Waves and Their Applications, 2005
We predict that four-wave mixing driven by a dual frequency input undergoes different instability scenarios encompassing modulational instability or multiple shock formation in the anomalous and normal dispersion regime, respectively.

Spatially dependent four-wave mixing in semiconductor quantum wells

Applied Physics Letters, 2019
We propose a scheme to generate spatially dependent four-wave mixing (FWM) in an asymmetric semiconductor three-coupled-quantum-well nanostructure.

Surface-Enhanced Nonlinear Four-Wave Mixing

Physical Review Letters, 2010
We report on a particularly strong third-order nonlinear response from nanostructured gold surfaces. Two incident laser beams with frequencies omega{1} and omega{2} give rise to four-wave mixing (4WM) fields with frequencies 2omega{1}-omega{2} and 2omega{2}-omega{1}.

Symmetries of photorefractive four-wave mixing

Physical Review A, 1992
A symmetry analysis of degenerate four-wave-mixing equations in photorefractive crystals is carried out. Using underlying SU symmetries, a systematic derivation of conserved quantities is performed, and a method of integration of the equations is introduced.

Phase-sensitive four-wave mixing interferometer

Optics Letters, 2014
A nonlinear interferometer is constructed using a dual-pump, dual-signal four-wave mixing (FWM) process. The generated idlers are categorized into phase-insensitive and phase-sensitive (PS) outputs according to whether the power is sensitive to the phase difference of the input signals.

First Evidence of Purely Extreme-Ultraviolet Four-Wave Mixing.

Physical Review Letters, 2018
The extension of nonlinear optical techniques to the extreme-ultraviolet (EUV), soft and hard x-ray regime represents one of the open challenges of modern science since it would combine chemical specificity with background-free detection and ultrafast ...

Degenerate four-wave mixing in plasmas

Optics Letters, 1979
We report an analysis of degenerate four-wave mixing in uniform plasmas and show that the magnitude of the third-order susceptibility (varying as lambda(2)) can be comparable to (10(-11) esu for lambda = 10.6 microm) or orders of magnitude larger (10(-3) esu for lambda= 10 cm) than the corresponding susceptibility in typical nonlinear materials.

Polariton effects in four-wave mixing

Physical Review B, 1994
We show that polariton effects lead to time-delayed components in the time-resolved four-wave-mixing (FWM) signal. Hence we find that recent observations in FWM experiments that have been ascribed to many-body Coulomb interactions can also be explained from the formation of exciton polaritons.

Near-Degenerate Four-Wave-Mixing Microscopy

Nano Letters, 2009
Fluorescence microscopy has been widely used to explore the nanoscale world because of its superb sensitivity, but it is limited to fluorescent samples. Hence, various spectroscopic contrasts have been explored for imaging nonfluorescent species. Here we report a multiphoton microscopy based on single-beam near-degenerate four wave mixing (ND-FWM), by ...

Four-wave mixing with femtosecond pulses

Physica Scripta, 2009
The recent development of noncollinear optical parametric amplifiers (NOPAs) has equipped many laboratories with widely tunable, spectrally broad ultrashort laser pulses with a duration of 15-30 fs. The present work deals with sub-20 fs pulsed degenerate four wave mixing (DFWM) on high-frequency vibrational levels in all-trans-beta-carotene.
