Squeezing in nondegenerate four-wave mixing
Physical Review A, 1986Ways to minimize spontaneous-emission noise due to quantum fluctuations in the medium are a major consideration in experiments designed to produce squeezed states of light. Motivated by the recent experiments of Slusher et al. we present a fully quantized model of nondegenerate four-wave mixing. We show that the spontaneous-emission noise, important at

Entangled Images from Four-Wave Mixing
Science, 2008Two beams of light can be quantum mechanically entangled through correlations of their phase and intensity fluctuations. For a pair of spatially extended image-carrying light fields, the concept of entanglement can be applied not only to the entire images but also to their smaller details.

Four-wave mixing in microstructure fiber
Optics Letters, 2001We report what we believe to be the first experimental demonstration of nondegenerate four-wave mixing in a microstructure fiber. The effect of the chi((3)) nonlinearity is enhanced in such a fiber because of the small core area, and we achieve phase matching by operating near the zero-dispersion wavelength (?750 nm) . We have observed parametric gains

Advances in instrumentation for FEL-based four-wave-mixing experiments
Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A : Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 2018Experimental approaches based on nonlinear optical processes (wave-mixing) have allowed major breakthroughs in diverse fields of science and technology. Nevertheless, these concepts were restricted to the optical regime due to the lack of coherent photon

Generation of coherent mid-IR light by parametric four-wave mixing in alkali vapor
Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics, 2018We demonstrate the generation of coherent mid-infrared light at 5.23 µm in hot rubidium vapor by parametric four wave mixing. Different regimes of competition between amplified spontaneous emission and four wave mixing are observed.

Four-Wave Frequency Mixing in Gases
1987Four wave frequency mixing in gases is now understood in a quantitative manner and has been used for the design of coherent infrared as well as vacuum uv sources. A brief review of the fundamental processes is given. The vacuum uv sources have already extended laser spectroscopy into the vacuum ultraviolet spectral region below 200 nm. Several examples

Four-wave mixing in traveling-wave semiconductor amplifiers
IEEE Journal of Quantum Electronics, 1995The traveling-wave equations of four-wave mixing in semiconductor amplifiers are solved analytically including saturation of the amplifier. Excellent agreement is obtained with numerical solutions of the traveling-wave equations. The analytical model is used to analyze a highly nondegenerate four-wave mixing experiment in a bulk semiconductor amplifier.

Forward four-wave mixing with defocusing nonlinearity
Optics Letters, 2007We experimentally demonstrate degenerate, forward four-wave mixing effects in a self-defocusing photorefractive medium, in both one and two transverse dimensions. We observe the nonlinear evolution of new modes as a function of propagation distance, in both the near-field and far-field (Fourier space) regions.
