Detection Test for Periodic Signals Revisited Against Various Stochastic Models

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Appropriate noise background should be taken into account when searching for the periodic or quasi-periodic oscillation buried in red noise. Null hypothesis assuming a conventional first-order autoregressive (AR(1)) process may lead to misleading ...

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Fractional integration and structural breaks at unknown periods of time [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper deals with the analysis of structural breaks in the context of fractionally integrated models. We assume that the break dates are unknown and that the different sub-samples possess different intercepts, slope coefficients and fractional orders

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

The Periodogram of fractional processes. [PDF]

open access: yes
We analyse asymptotic properties of the discrete Fourier transform and the periodogram of time series obtained through (truncated) linear filtering of stationary processes.

Plasma extrachromosomal circular DNA as a biomarker in EGFR‐targeted therapy of non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Detection of extrachromosomal circular DNA (eccDNA) in plasma samples from EGFR‐mutated non‐small cell lung cancer patients. Plasma was collected before and during treatment with the EGFR‐tyrosine kinase inhibitor osimertinib. Plasma eccDNA was detected in all cancer samples, and the presence of the EGFR gene on eccDNA serves as a potential biomarker ...

Consumption and fractional differencing: old and new anomalies [PDF]

open access: yes
A calculation of the stochastic properties of consumption when income follows a fractional stochastic process, showing how this may explain excess-smoothness results noted in previous studies.Consumption (Economics) ; Income ; Time-series ...

Addressing non-stationarity with stochastic trend in the context of limited time series data: An experimental survey in healthcare analytics

open access: yesApplied Computer Science
Stationarity is a fundamental assumption in time series modeling that underlies reliable statistical inference and forecasting. Time series data can be found in many domains, including industry, engineering, finance, economics, epidemiology, and health ...

Cytoplasmic p21 promotes stemness of colon cancer cells via activation of the NFκB pathway

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytoplasmic p21 promotes colorectal cancer stem cell (CSC) features by destabilizing the NFκB–IκB complex, activating NFκB signaling, and upregulating BCL‐xL and COX2. In contrast to nuclear p21, cytoplasmic p21 enhances spheroid formation and stemness transcription factor CD133.

Infant mortality rates: Time trends and fractional integration [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This paper examines the time trends in infant mortality rates in a number of countries in the 20th century. Rather than imposing that the error term is a stationary I(0) process, we allow for the possibility of fractional integration and hence for a much
