Fractional Dynamics of Information Entropy in Quantum Wire System Under Rashba Interaction

open access: yesFractal and Fractional
We present a theoretical examination of the fractional dynamics of information entropy within a semiconductor nanowire system influenced by Rashba spin–orbit interaction and external magnetic fields.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Generalized Memory: Fractional Calculus Approach

open access: yesFractal and Fractional, 2018
The memory means an existence of output (response, endogenous variable) at the present time that depends on the history of the change of the input (impact, exogenous variable) on a finite (or infinite) time interval.

Global Dynamics of Fractional-Order Discrete Maps

open access: yesFractal and Fractional, 2023
In this paper, global dynamics of fractional-order discrete maps is analyzed by an extended generalized cell mapping (EGCM) method. Considering the lack of valid global analysis methods, the EGCM method is used to explore the global dynamics for ...

On an explicit finite difference method for fractional diffusion equations

open access: yes, 2003
A numerical method to solve the fractional diffusion equation, which could also be easily extended to many other fractional dynamics equations, is considered.

A Dynamic-Order Fractional Dynamic System [PDF]

open access: yesChinese Physics Letters, 2013
Multi-system interaction is an important and difficult problem in physics. Motivated by the experimental result of an electronic circuit element "Fractor", we introduce the concept of dynamic-order fractional dynamic system, in which the differential-order of a fractional dynamic system is determined by the output signal of another dynamic system.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Diffusion in Relatively Homogeneous Sand Columns: A Scale-Dependent or Scale-Independent Process?

open access: yesEntropy, 2013
Solute transport through homogeneous media has long been assumed to be scale-independent and can be quantified by the second-order advection-dispersion equation (ADE). This study, however, observed the opposite in the laboratory, where transport of CuSO4

Shot-noise evidence of fractional quasiparticle creation in a local fractional quantum Hall state

open access: yes, 2015
We have experimentally identified fractional quasiparticle creation in a tunneling process through a local fractional quantum Hall (FQH) state. The local FQH state is prepared in a low-density region near a quantum point contact (QPC) in an integer ...

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These
