Stabilisation of strawberry (Fragaria x ananassa Duch.) anthocyanins by different pectins
Food Chemistry, 2013The objective of the present study was to evaluate the effects of different pectins on strawberry anthocyanins in viscous model solutions at pH 3.0. For this purpose, low esterified amidated, low and high methyl esterified citrus and apple pectins, and a sugar beet pectin (SBP), respectively, were added to strawberry extracts.

Fragaria x ananassa originated spontaneously in mixed plots of Fragaria virginiana P. Miller and Fragaria chiloensis (L.) P. Miller in horticultural areas in north west France and in some botanical gardens of Europe between circa 1715 and 1760. The hybridogenic origin and the octoploid level are the basis for a high variability of all important ...

Polyphenol production in hairy root cultures of Fragaria x ananassa
Phytochemistry, 1995Abstract Hairy roots of Fragaria × ananassa cv. Reikou, induced with Agrobacterium rhizogenes ATCC 15834, grew well in hormone-free Murashige-Skoog (MS), root culture and Gamborg B5 liquid media. Particularly, in MS medium, hairy roots whowed maximum growth (539 mg per flask, dry wt at week 8) producing high contents of polyphenols (especially (

Plant Regeneration from Strawberry (Fragaria x Ananassa) Mesophyll Protoplasts
Journal of Plant Physiology, 1988In vegetatively propagated species with strong heterozygoty and high ploidy levels, plant breeding through somatic cell genetics is of special interest. In strawberry breeding, where plant breeders wish to introduce specific traits such as earliness, winterhardiness and disease resistance into already established cultivars these techniques might be of ...

Cytosolic aldolase is a ripening related enzyme in strawberry fruits (Fragaria × ananassa)
Phytochemistry, 2001Two aldolase isoenzymes have been isolated from ripe strawberry fruits (Fragaria x ananassa cv. Camarosa and Elsanta) and partially purified by DEAE anion exchange and Sephacryl size exclusion chromatography. The isoenzymes were identified as class I cytosol and plastid aldolase on the basis of their chromatographic behavior on DEAE-cellulose columns ...
