A systematic review and meta‐analysis of preoperative MRI‐based pelvimetry in predicting surgical difficulty in rectal cancer: Implications for personalised surgical planning

open access: yesColorectal Disease, Volume 28, Issue 10, October 2026.
Abstract Background Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)‐based pelvimetry has been investigated for predicting surgical difficulty in total mesorectal excision (TME) for rectal cancer. However, heterogeneity in pelvimetric parameters, surrogate outcomes, and study design has resulted in inconsistent evidence.

Genome‐Wide Screening and Functional Verification of the Tobacco SGR Family Identify Transcription‐Factor‐Like NtSGRL as a Negative Regulator of Tomato Yellow Leaf Curl Virus Resistance

open access: yesMolecular Plant Pathology, Volume 27, Issue 10, October 2026.
A chloroplast‐associated STAY‐GREEN protein, NtSGRL1, acts as a negative regulator of antiviral immunity in tobacco. Disruption of NtSGRL1 enhances resistance to diverse plant viruses and reveals a previously unrecognized link between chloroplast regulation and immune signalling.

Circadian Clock Gates Verticillium dahliae Defence in Cotton by Modulating JAZs Expression

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 24, Issue 10, Page 5526-5543, October 2026.
ABSTRACT The circadian clock plays critical roles in orchestrating temporal regulation of diverse physiological processes. However, its role in mediating root‐associated immunity against soil‐borne pathogens in crops remains poorly understood. Here, we show that cotton circadian clock gates nighttime resistance to vascular fungal pathogen Verticillium ...

Transition to Double‐Cell Mock Walker Circulations With Surface Warming Explained by Periodic Convection

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 18, 28 September 2026.
Abstract Idealized mock Walker simulations are widely used to study the interactions between overturning circulation and convection in the tropics. Previous studies documented a transition from a single‐cell to a double‐cell mock Walker circulation when the average sea surface temperature exceeds 300 K.
