Systems biology of energetic and atomic costs in the yeast transcriptome, proteome, and metabolome [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Proteins vary in their cost to the cell and natural selection may favour the use of proteins that are cheaper to produce. We develop a novel approach to estimate the amino acid biosynthetic cost based on genome-scale metabolic models, and directly ...

β‐TrCP overexpression enhances cisplatin sensitivity by depleting BRCA1

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Low levels of β‐TrCP (Panel A) allow the accumulation of BRCA1 and CtIP, which facilitate the repair of cisplatin‐induced DNA damage via homologous recombination (HR) and promote tumor cell survival. In contrast, high β‐TrCP expression (Panel B) leads to BRCA1 and CtIP degradation, impairing HR repair, resulting in persistent DNA damage and apoptosis ...

Difference of Free Amino Acids in Different Primary Processed Yunnan Arabica Coffee and Its Taste Forming Mechanism

open access: yesShipin gongye ke-ji
To explore the influence of three different primary processing methods (wet-processed, honey-processed and sun-exposed processed) of Yunnan Arabica coffee on the free amino acid and its taste forming mechanisms, the total protein content, free amino ...

Assessment of seminal plasma free amino acids among fertile men

open access: yesSVU - International Journal of Medical Sciences, 2019
Background:Amino acids can elevate sperm count, motility, and morphology. Increasing the availability of these amino acids can help to improve male fertility certain foods can help to improve sperm parameters.

Modeling hepatic fibrosis in TP53 knockout iPSC‐derived human liver organoids

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study developed iPSC‐derived human liver organoids with TP53 gene knockout to model human liver fibrosis. These organoids showed elevated myofibroblast activation, early disease markers, and advanced fibrotic hallmarks. The use of profibrotic differentiation medium further amplified the fibrotic signature seen in the organoids.

Depth profiles of amino-acids in porewater of sediments from the Norwegian - Greenland sea [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
Dissolved free amino acids (DFAA) and dissolved combined amino acids (DCAA) were determined in the porewater of sediment cores from the Norwegian-Greenland Sea (water depth from 1000 to 3300 m).

PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells enhances bortezomib sensitivity in multiple myeloma cells by altering their metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigated how PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs) indirectly affects multiple myeloma (MM) cell metabolism and viability. Culturing MM cells in conditioned medium from PYCR1‐silenced BMSCs impaired oxidative phosphorylation and increased sensitivity to bortezomib.

Thermal degradation of 18 amino acids during pyrolytic processes

open access: yesScientific Reports
Biomass pyrolysis greatly impacts climates, ecosystem dynamics, air quality, human health, global carbon and nitrogen cycle. The emissions of nitrogen-containing compounds from biomass pyrolysis highly depend on the protein nitrogen existing in biomass ...

A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

Patient‐specific pharmacogenomics demonstrates xCT as predictive therapeutic target in colon cancer with possible implications in tumor connectivity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study integrates transcriptomic profiling of matched tumor and healthy tissues from 32 colorectal cancer patients with functional validation in patient‐derived organoids, revealing dysregulated metabolic programs driven by overexpressed xCT (SLC7A11) and SLC3A2, identifying an oncogenic cystine/glutamate transporter signature linked to ...
