Neonatology, 1986Meconium samples of 20 healthy full-term babies were analyzed for free fatty acid content. The total fatty acid content per net weight varied by as much as 9-fold between samples. Considerable variability was also observed in the individual fatty acids found in each sample.

Journal of Applied Physiology, 1964The effects of exercise of different intensity and duration on plasma free fatty acids (FFA), blood glucose, and lactate were investigated in eight healthy young men. In heavy 10-min work the blood lactate rose rapidly and the FFA decreased. Blood sugar showed no marked change.
