C9orf72 ALS‐causing mutations lead to mislocalization and aggregation of nucleoporin Nup107 into stress granules

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mutations in the C9orf72 gene represent the most common genetic cause of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a fatal neurodegenerative disease. Using patient‐derived neurons and C. elegans models, we find that the nucleoporin Nup107 is dysregulated in C9orf72‐associated ALS. Conversely, reducing Nup107 levels mitigates disease‐related changes.

Novel and unscrutinized immune entities of the zebrafish gut

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Understudied cells of the zebrafish immune system include bona fide immune cells and epithelial (‐derived) cells with immune functions. Research focusing on zebrafish cells which demonstrate similarities to mammalian immune cell counterparts may help us understand the pathologies in which they are implicated. Currently available and advanced tools make

Tetrahedral chains and a curious semigroup

open access: yesExtracta Mathematicae, 2019
In 1957 Steinhaus asked for a proof that a chain of identical regular tetrahedra joined face to face cannot be closed. Świerczkowski gave a proof in 1959.

From lactation to malignancy: A comparison between healthy and cancerous breast gland at single‐cell resolution reveals new issues for tumorigenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Single‐cell RNA sequencing reveals an opposite role of SLPI in basal tumors based on metastatic spread, along with shared activation of specific regulons in cancer cells and mature luminal lactocytes, as well as downregulation of MALAT1 and NEAT1 in the latter.

Imeglimin attenuates liver fibrosis by inhibiting vesicular ATP release from hepatic stellate cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Imeglimin, at clinically relevant concentrations, inhibits vesicular ATP accumulation and release from hepatic stellate cells, thereby attenuating purinergic signaling and reducing fibrogenic activation. This mechanism reveals a newly identified antifibrotic action of imeglimin beyond glycemic control.

Projections in free product C*-algebras, II

open access: yes, 1999
Let (A,phi) be the reduced free product of infinitely many pairs (A_i,phi_i) of C*-algebras with faithful states. Assume that the A_i are not too small, in a specific sense. It is shown that if phi is a trace then K_0(A) is determined entirely by K_0(phi)

Cancer cell death induced by the NAD antimetabolite Vacor discloses the antitumor potential of SARM1

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Vacor, a compound converted into the toxic metabolite Vacor adenine dinucleotide (VAD) by the nicotinamide salvage pathway enzymes NAMPT and NMNAT2, exhibits antitumor activity by inducing rapid and complete NAD depletion. We report that Vacor toxicity is limited to cell lines expressing high levels of SARM1, a NAD glycohydrolase.

On the Root-Class Residuallity of Generalized Free Products

open access: yesМоделирование и анализ информационных систем, 2013
Let K be a root class of groups. It is proved that a free product of any family of residually K groups with one amalgamated subgroup, which is a retract in all free factors, is residually K.

ANALYSIS OF THE INFLUENCE OF FOOD CROP PRODUCTION, DOMESTIC GROSS PRODUCTS, AND MANUFACTURER PRICES ON COST INSURANCE FREIGHT IMPORT AND FREE ON BOARD IN INDONESIA

open access: yesRussian Journal of Agricultural and Socio-Economic Sciences, 2020
This study aims to acknowledge and find empirical evidence of the effect of food crop production on gross domestic product and producer prices on cost insurance, freight, imports and free on board.

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...
