Free Radical Scavenging Action of Baicalein
Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1993TJ-960 is a Japanese Kampo (traditional herbal) medicine used for the treatment of epilepsy. It's a crude drug, an extract of nine herbs, and consists of many known and unknown components. Among the known components of TJ-960, we found that 5,6,7-trihydroxy-2-phenyl-4H-1-benzopyran-4-one (baicalein) might be the most potent scavenger for radicals.

Modulation of platelet function by free radicals and free-radical scavengers
Trends in Pharmacological Sciences, 1993Platelets have the capacity to generate oxygen-derived free radicals and are often present at inflammatory foci with other free-radical-generating cells such as white blood cells. Free radicals can modify platelet adhesion and aggregation directly or through effects on the vascular endothelium, which generates prostacyclin and nitric oxide.

The Significance of Free Radicals and Free Radical Scavengers in L1210 Leukemia
1988L1210 leukemia is a murine leukemia which is associated with anemia and marked neutrophilia. In order to determine the significance of free radicals (FR) in this disorder, we determined the presence and localization of free radical scavengers (FRS) and scavenger-like systems in L1210 leukemia cells obtained in vivo and from in vitro cultures.

Oxygen free radical scavenger properties of dehydroepiandrosterone
Cell Biochemistry and Function, 1998The microsomes from dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA)-supplemented animals are good hydroxyl radical scavengers, as demonstrated through electron spin resonance and deoxyribose degradation. The ability of DHEA-supplemented microsomes to react with superoxide radical was also demonstrated through the inhibition of nitroblue-tetrazolium reduction determined ...

Free radical scavenging Activity :
DIU Journal of Health and Life Sciences, 2014The present study was aimed at investigating the chemical profiles of the methanolic extract of leaves of Centella asiatica as well as to assess its antioxidative activity. In this study, a methanolic extract (50 g/L) was obtained by infusion followed by cold maceration for 24 h.
