Wearable Electro‐Thermal Haptic Stimulator Driven by a Self‐Powered Tactile Sensor for Realistic Stimulus Replication

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We present a stimulus‐replicating system combining a tactile sensor with a wearable Peltier thermotactile module and concentric electrotactile electrode. Signals encoding pressure and temperature drive the stimulators to reproduce mechano‐thermal cues on the skin. AlN/PDMS encapsulation and SA/LA PSA ensure mechanical compliance and thermal efficiency.

Regulating Droplet Dynamics via Wormlike Micelle Networks: From Splash Suppression to Precise Confined Spreading

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
As displayed in Graphical Abstract image.tif, a molecular‐design strategy precisely tailors high‐speed droplet dynamics through programmed surfactant co‐assembly. The structural transition into an entangled wormlike micelle network completely suppresses stochastic splashing on fibrous substrates.

Metal‐Half‐Salen Chemistry for One‐Pot Mineralization on Hydrophobic Polymer Membranes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Here we report a versatile one‐pot synthetic strategy for organic–inorganic composite membranes, which leverages a metal half‐Salen system to precisely govern the competing kinetics of coordination and hydrolysis. In contrast to conventional two‐step metal‐phenol chemistries, our integrated approach substantially simplifies the fabrication process ...

Primary-Grade French Immersion in a Unilingual English-Canadian Setting: The Toronto Study through Grade 2

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Education, 1976
Le rendement scolaire d'élèves de la maternelle à la deuxième année qui fréquentent un programme d'immersion en français à Toronto est mis en rapport avec le rendement d'élèves qui sont inscrits au programme normal donné en anglais.

The Economic Returns to a Second Official Language: English in Quebec and French in the Rest-of-Canada [PDF]

open access: yes
Canada is a country with two official languages, French and English. The need for both languages in Quebec and the Rest-of-Canada (ROC) generates a demand for bilingualism and investment in the acquisition of a second official language.

Intranasal Delivery of Gallium–Quercetin Nanoparticles for Multi‐Target Ferroptosis Inhibition in Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Leveraging the chemical similarity between Ga3+ and Fe3+ as well as the antioxidant properties of quercetin, gallium–quercetin nanoparticles (GQNPs) were prepared to integrate iron homeostasis regulation, oxidative stress suppression, and mitochondrial protection for multi‐target ferroptosis inhibition in Parkinson's Disease.

Dicationic Ion‐Pair Doping Enables Stable and High‐Performing Conducting Polymers for Organic Thermoelectrics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
TAB–2TFSI enables efficient ion‐pair doping across a wide range of conjugated polymers, where the strongly oxidizing TAB core drives charge transfer, and the TFSI counterions promote favorable ionic compensation. This dicationic dopant promotes uniform dopant distribution, improves structural order, and increases carrier delocalization, establishing a ...

Diachronic and/or synchronic variation? The acquisition of sociolinguistic competence in L2 French. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
A majority of the early research in Second Language Acquisition focused on diachronic variation in the learners’ interlanguage (IL), that is, differences in the IL linked to a supposed increase in knowledge between two points in time (cf.

RNA Promotes Synapsin Condensates That Organize Synaptic Vesicles in Live Neurons and Enable Localized Translation in Reconstituted System

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Condensates at synapses organize synaptic vesicles (SVs) and are crucial for efficient neurotransmitter release, yet how RNA contributes to this mesoscale architecture remains poorly understood. Here we uncover that RNA modulates synapsin–driven condensates.

Effectiveness and French Immersion: A Socio-Political Analysis

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Education, 1992
In the American view of educational effectiveness, a school is “effective” if it provides all children, regardless of social background, with an education.
