Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

High Performance Control of Grid Connected Cascaded H-Bridge Active Rectifier Based on Type II-Fuzzy Logic Controller with Low Frequency Modulation Technique

open access: yes, 2016
This paper tries to employ a fuzzy logic (FL) controller type II to control the Cascaded H-Bridge (CHB) active rectifier. This controller has strong performance, specially, when a low switching frequency Selective Harmonic Elimination (SHE) method is ...

Extracting a shape function for a signal with intra-wave frequency modulation [PDF]

open access: yesPhilosophical Transactions of the Royal Society A: Mathematical, Physical and Engineering Sciences, 2015
In this paper, we develop an effective and robust adaptive time-frequency analysis method for signals with intra-wave frequency modulation. To handle this kind of signals effectively, we generalize our data-driven time-frequency analysis by using a shape

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

Power and signal dual modulation‐based bidirectional communication between intrinsically safe converters

open access: yesIET Power Electronics
In harsh operating environments such as mines and gas stations, intrinsically safe power converters are required for electronics devices. Reliable communication is the key ensuring good performance of monitoring and coordinated control for intrinsically ...

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Quantum systems under frequency modulation [PDF]

open access: yesReports on progress in physics. Physical Society, 2015
We review the physical phenomena that arise when quantum mechanical energy levels are modulated in time. The dynamics resulting from changes in the transition frequency is a problem studied since the early days of quantum mechanics.

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Improving Broadcast Channel Rate Using Hierarchical Modulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We investigate the design of a broadcast system where the aim is to maximise the throughput. This task is usually challenging due to the channel variability.

Unified MIMO-multicarrier designs: a space–time shift keying approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
A survey and tutorial is provided on the subject of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) multicarrier (MC) systems relying on the space-time shift keying concept.
