STUDY OF TRANSITION IN THE FRETTING PHENOMENON BASED ON THE VARIABILE COEFFICIENT OF FRICTION [PDF]
Fretting is now fully identified as a small amplitude oscilatory motion which induces a harmonic tangential force between two surfaces in contact. It is related to three main loadings, i.e.

Characterization Of Fretting Fatigue of 7075-T6 Aluminium Alloy [PDF]
The main aim of the research work is to present theoretical and experimental approaches to the problem of fretting fatigue using 7075-T6 aluminum alloy as a specimen and En24 steel as a pad.

Mechanisms of Fretting Fatigue
Fretting fatigue is one of the most important phenomena for inducing a dramatic reduction of fatigue strength and consequently, of unexpected failure accidents. There are numerous works on fretting fatigue. The objective of the present review is to clarify fretting fatigue mechanisms based on the vast amount of research work.

Procedure and results of investigation of crack initiation under fretting fatigue [PDF]
Technique for determination of crack initiation lifetime under fretting fatigue has developed. It represents a combination of the French’s method and the statistical staircase method.

Length Scale Considerations in Fretting Fatigue
The presence of fretting can be shown to decrease the fatigue life of a component by accelerating crack initiation and subsequent propagation. Behavior in the “long crack” regime may be adequately explained using linear-elastic fracture mechanics. In contrast crack initiation is complex and much more difficult to understand.

In the present paper, the construction and features of a fretting fatigue testing machine designed by the authors are explained, and the experimental results obtained by using the testing machine are stated concerning mainly the relative slip which is considered to be one of the most significant factors affecting the fretting fatigue strength.

Fretting Fatigue Behavior under Tension–Bending Mixed-Mode Loading
The mixed-mode loading fretting fatigue caused by the complex geometry of components and combinations of boundary conditions is a common failure mechanism in engineering components, which can dramatically reduce fatigue life. In this paper, a cylinder-on-
