Crack initiation criteria in fretting fatigue

open access: yesWear, 1990
Abstract This paper is a description of a series of fretting fatigue tests on an Al/Cu alloy in which the contact size was varied while the other relevant parameters were held constant. The fretting fatigue life was found to be infinite below a certain critical contact width.

Fretting in aircraft turbine engines [PDF]

open access: yes
The problem of fretting in aircraft turbine engines is discussed. Critical fretting can occur on fan, compressor, and turbine blade mountings, as well as on splines, rolling element bearing races, and secondary sealing elements of face type seals ...

A fretting crack initiation prediction taking into account the surface roughness and the crack nucleation process volume

open access: yes, 2005
This paper presents an experimental study of the fretting crack nucleation threshold, expressed in terms of loading conditions, with a cylinder/plane contact.

Characterization Of Fretting Fatigue of 7075-T6 Aluminium Alloy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The main aim of the research work is to present theoretical and experimental approaches to the problem of fretting fatigue using 7075-T6 aluminum alloy as a specimen and En24 steel as a pad.

The role of oxidation in the fretting wear process [PDF]

open access: yes
Fretting experiments were conducted on titanium, a series of Ni-Cr-Al alloys and on some high temperature turbine alloys at room temperature and at elevated temperatures in air and in various inert environments.

EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGTION OF THE FRETTING PHENOMENON-DEPENDENCE OF NUMBERS CYCLES [PDF]

open access: yesFiabilitate şi Durabilitate
Fretting is now fully identified as a small amplitude oscilatory motion which induces a harmonic tangential force between two surfaces in contact. It is related to three main loadings, i.e. fretting-wear, fretting-fatigue and fretting corrosion.Fretting
