Joining Optimization, Temperature, and IMC Evaluation for AL to Steel Friction Stir Spot Welding
Friction stir spot welding (FSSW) effectively solves many problematic welding metals, such as dissimilar metals and thin alloy sheets. Carbon steel‐AISI 1006 top sheet and an aluminum alloy AA2024‐T3 bottom sheet were joined by FSSW with a cylindrical pinless tool. Joints are evaluated in terms of temperature, mechanical characteristics, microstructure,

Low cycle fatigue behavior of AZ31 magnesium alloy joined by friction stir welding
Abstract This study, aims to weld the 5.2 mm thick AZ31 magnesium alloy with conventional friction stir welding at the highest joining efficiency. As a result of the experiments, 88% joining efficiency in tensile strength has been obtained at 1250 rpm, 400 mm.min−1 welding parameter.

Mass flash reduction strategies in friction stir processing of aluminum alloys: A review
Expulsion of excess flash is a common friction stir processing challenge. Its causes include use of flat‐shouldered tools, no‐to‐low tilt angles, high and low heat input, high plunge depth, and high travel speed and axial forces. Selecting optimal parameters, concave shoulders and lifting high the tool tilt angles when using flat shoulders, reduce the ...

Integrity Assessment of Electron‐Beam‐Welded Joints of Additively Manufactured AlSi10Mg Components
Electron beam welding is employed to join AlSi10Mg specimens fabricated via powder bed fusion‐laser beam (PBF‐LB/M) and casting. The study explores the quasistatic and fatigue behavior of similar and dissimilar welded joints in different combinations, alongside thorough microstructure analysis, to assess the correlation between the microscopic and ...
