Effect of tool traverse speed on joint line remnant and mechanical properties of friction stir welded 2195-T8 Al–Li alloy joints

open access: yesHigh Temperature Materials and Processes, 2023
AA2195-T8 Al–Li alloy plates were welded by friction stir welding (FSW) at tool rotational speed of 1,000 rpm and tool traverse speeds (TS) of 100–400 mm·min−1 under three types of butting surface conditions, i.e., (1) without butting surface treatment, (

Friction Stir Spot Extrusion Joining With Its Metal Flow Investigation

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
This study aims to extrude a portion of an Al sheet through a steel hole shaped like a rivet to assemble an Al and a preholed steel sheet by a mechanical interlock. This will be accomplished by joining the two materials together. AA6061 and AISI1006 sheets were assembled using a lap arrangement, with the steel preholed sheet placed below the aluminum ...

Joining 1.1‐ and 2.1‐mm Al Sheets by Friction Stir Spot Welding

open access: yesMaterial Design &Processing Communication, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
This study used friction stir spot welding (FSSW) to weld 1.1‐ and 2.1‐mm AA6061‐T6 sheets at 560, 710, 900, and 1120 rpm at a fixed dwell duration of 5 s. It was determined how much heat was supplied into the FSSW, and the cycle temperature that occurred throughout the FSSW technique was carefully documented.

Friction stir welding (FSW) of aluminium foam sandwich panels

open access: yesMetalurgija, 2016
The article focuses on the influence of welding speed and tool tilt angle upon the mechanical properties at the friction stir welding of aluminium foam sandwich panels. Double side welding was used for producing butt welds of aluminium sandwich panels applying insertion of extruded aluminium profile.
