Investigation of Laser Surface Texturing and Injection Molding Parameters in Advanced High‐Strength Steel‐Polyamide Direct Joining

open access: yessteel research international, Volume 96, Issue 3, March 2025.
The dissimilar materials joining of advanced high‐strength steel (AHSS) and glass fiber‐reinforced polyamide 6 (PA 6) is achieved via laser surface texturing and injection molding. The PA 6 filling at the laser‐textured AHSS creates mechanical interlocks, and the maximum joint strength is measured at 72.3 MPa.

Comparison of ALE finite element method and adaptive smoothed finite element method for the numerical simulation of friction stir welding [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In this paper, the material flow around the pin during friction stir welding (FSW) is simulated using a 2D plane\ud strain model. A pin rotates without translation in a disc with elasto-viscoplastic material properties and the outer boundary of\ud the ...

Parameter Optimization for Dissimilar Aluminum Alloys Joined Using Friction Stir Additive Manufacturing: A Screening Study

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 7, Issue 1, January 2025.
This screening study explores parameter optimization for friction stir additive manufacturing (FSAM) of dissimilar aluminum alloys given different design objectives. The experimental results and statistical analysis were used to create a decision table and recommendations relative to properties and welding needs.

Effect of Forced Air Cooling on the Microstructures, Tensile Strength, and Hardness Distribution of Dissimilar Friction Stir Welded AA5A06-AA6061 Joints

open access: yesMetals, 2019
Friction stir welding (FSW) is a promising welding method for welding dissimilar materials without using welding flux. In the present work, 5A06-H112 and 6061-T651 aluminium alloys were successfully welded by friction stir welding with forced air cooling

Experimental External Force Estimation Using a Non-Linear Observer for 6 axes Flexible-Joint Industrial Manipulators [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This paper proposes a non-linear observer to estimate not only the state (position and velocity) of links but also the external forces exerted by the robot during Friction Stir Welding (FSW) processes.
