IoT‐5G and B5G/6G resource allocation and network slicing orchestration using learning algorithms

open access: yesIET Networks, Volume 14, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
In this article, the challenges related to the evolution of 5G and B5G/6G networks are examined more closely. The authors then primarily focus on machine learning solutions for resource allocation in 5G and B5G/6G networks. The requirements for dynamic network slicing orchestration are also analysed.

5G New Radio Fronthaul Network Design for eCPRI-IEEE 802.1CM and Extreme Latency Percentiles

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Packet-switched fronthaul networks are often designed following the rule that the worst-case network delay must be below a given target end-to-end network latency budget.

Dataplane Measurements On A Fronthaul And Backhaul Integrated Network

open access: yes, 2017
Future transport networks serving next generation accesses are expected to carry both fronthaul (FH) and backhaul (BH) traffic simultaneously. This new concept of network which integrates the FH and BH traffic over the same transport substrate is called Crosshaul.

Joint Weighted Dynamic Resources Optimisation in Green Open Radio Access Network

open access: yesIET Networks, Volume 14, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
The paper presents an optimisation framework for the off‐grid green open radio access network architecture using renewable energy, aiming to optimise power and bandwidth allocation, ensure high data rates and improve service quality, considering factors like power consumption and maintenance cost. ABSTRACT The rapid growth of interconnected devices and

Quantum teleportation in higher dimension and entanglement distribution via quantum switches

open access: yesIET Quantum Communication, Volume 6, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
This paper presents a novel theoretical framework for transmitting classical information through entanglement distribution of qudits over two quantum channels in a superposition of causal orders. The authors introduce the first quantum switch operation for 2‐qudit systems and a theoretical model for qudit entanglement distribution via a quantum switch.

Next Generation Fiber-Wireless Fronthaul for 5G mmWave Networks [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Communications Magazine, 2019
mmWave radio, although instrumental for achieving the required 5G capacity KPIs, necessitates the need for a very large number of access points, which places an immense strain on the current network infrastructure. In this article, we try to identify the major challenges that inhibit the design of the Next Generation Fronthaul Interface in two upcoming

Adaptive power management for multiaccess edge computing‐based 6G‐inspired massive Internet of Things

open access: yesIET Wireless Sensor Systems, Volume 15, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
The paper proposes a containerised edge computing model for power optimisation in 6G‐inspired massive Internet‐of‐Things applications. The problem is formulated as a central processing unit energy consumption cost function based on quasi‐finite system observations. Results show that the model performs better compared to a competitive baseline algorithm.

Microservice Adaptability and Self‐Organization of UAV‐Assisted Wireless Networks in Failure Rural Scenarios

open access: yesInternational Journal of Distributed Sensor Networks, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Internet access remains unavailable for approximately 2 billion people in remote areas, limiting their access to essential services such as healthcare and education. This paper presents a UAV‐based wireless network architecture combined with a microservice model to ensure the dynamic deployment of IoT applications in rural environments.

Social-Aware Edge Caching in Fog Radio Access Networks

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2017
Fog radio access networks (F-RANs) are becoming an emerging and promising paradigm for fifth generation cellular communication systems. In F-RANs, distributed edge caching techniques among remote radio heads (RRHs) and user equipment (UE) can effectively

Resource Management and Admission Control for Tactile Internet in Next Generation of Radio Access Network

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Tactile Internet (TI) is one of the main service types in 5G, which requires tight delay preservation for each end-to-end (E2E) transmission link of TI pair of users.
