The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Fin and Temperature Effect of Frost in Ambient Air Vaporizer

open access: yes한국해양공학회지, 2022
Since liquefied natural gas (LNG) is imported in a liquid state of about -162℃ to increase transportation efficiency in Korea, it must be vaporized in a gaseous state to supply it to consumers. Among them, ambient air vaporizer (AAV) has caught attention

FLOWER ORIENTATION INFLUENCES OVARY TEMPERATURE DURING FROST IN PEACH [PDF]

open access: yesHortScience, 1992
Ovary temperatures of upward and downward facing flowers of `Junegold' Peach ( Prunus persica (L.) Batsch) were measured on 5 nights in March 1991 to determine whether differential survival of ovaries following frost was related to flower orientation.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Simulating the Performance of a Heat Exchanger During Frosting [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Factors affecting frost distribution are explored using a finite element model, developed and validated using a full-scale 8-row heat exchanger in a wind tunnel.

CO2 Frost Phenomenon for Binary System of Methane-Carbon Dioxide Mixtures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In the present study, the CO2 frost phenomenon of CH4-CO2 mixtures has been observed for the rational design of CO2 removal from natural gas using a controlled freeze out area.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Numerical heat transfer model for frost protection of citrus fruits by water from a spraying system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
A simplified model is developed to simulate the conditions associated with the protection of fruits from frost damage using water from a spraying system.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.
