Seedless Fruit Production by Hormonal Regulation of Fruit Set [PDF]

open access: yesNutrients, 2009
Seed and fruit development are intimately related processes controlled by internal signals and environmental cues. The absence of seeds is usually appreciated by consumers and producers because it increases fruit quality and fruit shelf-life. One method to produce seedless fruit is to develop plants able to produce fruits independently from pollination

Fitness of natural willow hybrids in a pioneer mosaic hybrid zone

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, 2016
Hybrid fitness is an important parameter to predict the evolutionary consequences of a hybridization event and to characterize hybrid zones. We studied fitness parameters of F1 and later‐generation hybrids between the lowland species Salix purpurea and ...

Determining Reproductive Parameters, which Contribute to Variation in Yield of Olive Trees from Different Cultivars, Irrigation Regimes, Age and Location

open access: yesPlants, 2022
Olive (Olea europaea L.) trees can reach a very old age and still bear fruit. Although traditional groves are planted at low density and are rainfed, many newer groves are planted at higher densities and irrigated.

The effect of polyamines and SICS on the compatibility, fertility and yield indices of apple cv. Golden Delicious

open access: yesAdvances in Horticultural Science, 2018
The most critical problems of temperate fruit trees are poor fruit set and low yield. To solve the problem, some major chemical compounds such as polyamines and SICS (self-incompatibility control substance, Mn+B) can be used. Popular polyamines including

Rootstock influence on apple canopy architecture under high radiation and temperature [PDF]

open access: yesAgroznanje, 2012
Beside its typical and optimal area of cultivation in the central and northeast Albania, in the last decade, apple cultivation has been spread into the Western Plain, to benefit from the advantages of earliness and vicinity to the main markets. The scope

Effect of temperature, flowering time and inflorescence length on yield and productivity of litchi (Litchi chinensis) cv. ‘Shahi’

open access: yesThe Indian Journal of Agricultural Sciences, 2022
The present study was carried out in 2017–18 at ICAR-NRC on Litchi, Muzaffarpur to assess the effect of temperature, flowering time and inflorescence length on yield of litchi (Litchi chinensis Sonn.) cv. Shahi.

Influence of M9 rootstock on reproductive behaviour of apple cultivars under dry, semi-arid growing conditions [PDF]

open access: yesAgroznanje, 2013
In the last decade, apple has been intensively cultivated in the western coast of Albania. The scope of this research was to study the influence of M9 rootstock on the reproductive behaviour of apple cultivars 'M.

Variation in Lowbush Blueberry Fruit Set and Fruit Characteristics [PDF]

open access: yesHortScience, 1996
Twenty stems with four fruit buds were tagged in each of ten lowbush blueberry (Vaccinium angustifolium Ait.) clones in a commercial field to assess fruit set and fruit size and weight characteristics. The terminal bud produced the fewest blossoms and fruit but fruit set was equal among all buds (65%–70%).

FRUITING REDUCES FOLLOWING YEAR FRUIT SET IN CRANBERRY UPRIGHTS [PDF]

open access: yesHortScience, 1992
Biennial bearing of uprights has been documented for cranberry (Vaccinium macrocarpon Ait.). Percent return bloom (%RB) may vary from 14% to 74% depending on cultivar and growing region. Floral initiation for the following season in cranberry takes place during the same time period as flowering and fruit set for the current season.
