EFFECT OF FRUIT THINNING INTENSITY ON FIVE VARIETIES OF LYCHEE

open access: yesRevista Caatinga, 2017
Fruit thinning is the removal of fruitlets in heavy fruit set situations and aims to increase salable fruit sizes, avoid branch breakdown, reduce harvesting costs, and promote a balance between the vegetative and reproductive growth of plants ...

Soil, competition, and niche shifts shape the floral mosaic of an annual plant diversity hotspot

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
Abstract Premise Plant species with affinity for harsh substrates often have well‐defined edaphic (soil) niches and are ideal for exploring questions of community assembly. Vertic clay soils are chemically and physically challenging to plant establishment and productivity, and annual plant communities associated with these soils of the San Joaquin ...

EFFECTS OF CHEMICAL THINNING WITH ARMOTHIN® ON FRUIT SET, YIELD AND QUALITY OF JAPANESE PLUM (Prunus salicina Lindl.) CV. ‘FORTUNE’

open access: yesActa Scientiarum Polonorum: Hortorum Cultus, 2019
The effects of the application of the chemical thinner Armothin® on fruit set, yield and quality of Japanese plum (Prunus salicina Lindl.) cv. ‘Fortune’ were studied during two seasons in Central Chile (34.56°S, 71.5°W). Trees were sprayed with Armothin®

A Cost‐Effective Hybrid Method For Homogeneous Matrix Coating in Matrix‐Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization Mass Spectrometry Imaging Using Simultaneous Spin and Spray Deposition

open access: yesAnalysis &Sensing, EarlyView.
This study introduces an in‐house spin coater for matrix‐assisted laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry imaging, providing homogeneous matrix deposition via simultaneous spray and spin. The approach yields reproducible signals and clear metabolite distributions in complex tissues.

Biological Thinning of Fruit Set by RNAase in Deciduous Fruit Trees [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
Fruit thinning is a common and necessary practice for commercial fruit production in many deciduous tree fruit species. Fruit thinning in apple may be accomplished with a variety of chemical thinning agents, but the use of these chemicals is a subject of environmental concern.

Sustainable Graphene Oxide–Intercalated Bentonite Composite for the Effective Removal of Imidacloprid From Water: Adsorption Performance, Isotherm, and Kinetics

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Water is a fundamental necessity for our existence, but its rapid contamination is causing devastating effects on the environment and health of living species worldwide. Adsorptive removal of pollutants is one of the popular water treatment techniques because of its simplicity, affordability, and the broad range of available adsorbents.

Fruit Thinning of Pecan with Ethephon1

open access: yesHortScience, 1983
Abstract ‘Schley’ pecan [Carya illinoensis (Wang.) K. Koch] fruit were selectively thinned within one week after treatment with (2-chloroethyl)phosphonic acid (ethephon) without causing leaf abscission. A concentration range of 25, 50, 75, 100, 150, and 200 ppm caused progressive and selective fruit thinning ranging from 25 to 75%, depending upon ...

Green Fuel Combustion Synthesis of CeO2 and Ag/CeO2 Nanoparticles for Photocatalytic and Antibacterial Applications

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Silver‐doped cerium oxide nanoparticles (Ag/CeO2 NPs) were synthesized using Ricinus communis seed extract as a bio‐derived fuel in a solution combustion method. The combustion reaction, carried out at 450°C with AgNO3 and (NH4)2[Ce (NO3)6] as metal precursors, produced CeO2 and Ag/CeO2 NPs.
