First Evidence of Fallen Fruit Feeding by Bats Revealed by Camera Traps in a Tropical Dry Forest
Biotropica, Volume 57, Issue 5, September 2025.Ground foraging among volant frugivores is an underappreciated aspect of behavioral flexibility. Here we report the first evidence of fruit bats feeding on fallen fruit, captured by camera traps in a Costa Rican tropical dry forest. These observations provide insight into the flexibility and mechanisms of coexistence among frugivores.
