Fuel atomization in a flowing airstream
AIAA Journal, 1975parison of the location of the supersonic pocket and shock calculated by the relaxation method and obtained from the shadowgraphs of Fig. 1 is presented in Fig. 2. The shape of the shock is predicted correctly, but the location of the shock obtained experimentally is shifted some distance downstream.

Novel Sensors For Measuring Fuel Flow And Level
SPIE Proceedings, 1989This presentation will discuss a novel sensing method for measuring fuel flow which was developed for the Ford Motor Co by Sira Ltd. The fuel flow sensor uses an optical technique based on detecting light scattered from particles carried in the flowing fuel. Two off axis light sources illuminate the fuel flow region.

Determination of the Instantaneous Fuel Flow Rate Out of a Fuel Nozzle
Journal of Engineering for Gas Turbines and Power, 2009Reported is a practical method for accurate and fast determination of the instantaneous fuel flow rate out of a fuel injector. Both gaseous and liquid fuels are considered. Unsteady fuel flow rates introduced into a combustor can be caused by both self-excited pressure pulsations and fuel modulations.

Effects of diesel fuel temperature on fuel flow and spray characteristics
Fuel, 2015Abstract The cold start issue has been a problem in diesel engines. Thus, in the present research, the diesel fuel flow and macroscopic spray characteristics over a wide fuel temperature range were investigated to provide valuable insights for solving the cold start problem. An injection system including a common-rail and a fuel supplier was designed

Design of a Dynamic Fuel Flow Estimator For a Piezoelectric Fuel Injector
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2010Abstract An increasing desire for flexibility in a diesel engine's fuel injection system to help meet emissions, fuel consumption, and noise requirements motivates the use of piezoelectric actuated fuel injectors. Piezoelectric injectors can deliver more pulses per cycle and obtain tighter pulse spacing than solenoid injectors.

Micromachined Flow Sensor for Fuel Injection
SAE Technical Paper Series, 2000<div class="htmlview paragraph">This paper presents the structure, operation principle, and fabrication process of a novel type of flow-velocity sensor. Like the well known classical Pitot (Prandtl) tube, it realizes flow velocity detection by measurement of the pressure difference between stagnant fluid pressure in front of the sensor and static

Flow properties of three fuel powders
Particuology, 2012Abstract Flow and physical properties were measured for three fuel powders: sawdust, brown coal and hard coal. Besides physical properties, e.g., particle size, bulk density and moisture content, flowability was investigated using the standard shear testing technique of the Jenike shear cell.

Flow of Gel Fuels in Tapered Injectors
Journal of Propulsion and Power, 2000The governing equations of the steady e ow of gel propellants and fuels in a tapered tube injector have been formulated assuming a power-law rheological model. A parametric investigation was conducted to evaluate the effect of the injector geometry and pressure gradient on the e ow rate and the mean apparent viscosity of the gel for various fuels and ...
