Automated full matrix capture for industrial processes
Full matrix capture (FMC) ultrasound can be used to generate a permanent re-focusable record of data describing the geometry of a part; a valuable asset for an inspection process. FMC is a desirable acquisition mode for automated scanning of complex geometries, as it allows compensation for surface shape in post processing and application of the total ...

VARIABLE SPLIT APERTURE PROCESSING OF FULL MATRIX CAPTURE PHASED ARRAY DATA
Work is being conducted to develop phased array inspection of stainless steel welded pipes. Defects can occur anywhere along the weld fusion face. Optimum inspection performance across the entire weld face can be facilitated by collecting data as Full Matrix Capture (FMC) and applying a processing technique that allows focusing to be ideal for every ...

THE WAVENUMBER ALGORITHM: FAST FOURIER-DOMAIN IMAGING USING FULL MATRIX CAPTURE
We develop a Fourier‐domain approach to full matrix imaging based on the wavenumber algorithm used in synthetic aperture radar and sonar. The extension to the wavenumber algorithm for full matrix capture is described and the performance of the new algorithm is compared to the total focusing method (TFM), which we use as a representative benchmark for ...

In this paper, two multi-frequency time-reversal (TR)-based imaging algorithms are explored for application to the nondestructive evaluation (NDE) imaging of defects in solids: time reversal with multiple signal classification (TRMUSIC) and a related phase-coherent form (PC-MUSIC).

ULTRASONIC PHASED ARRAY INSPECTION OF FLAWS ON WELD FUSION FACES USING FULL MATRIX CAPTURE
Work is being conducted to develop phased array inspection of stainless steel welded pipes. Ideally this uses waves reflected and mode converted at the inner surface of the pipe, but most commercial phased array controllers do not currently provide for this. Our solution was to use Full Matrix Capture (FMC) and process the data ourselves.

Study on the railway wheel ultrasonic inspection method using the full matrix capture
The quality of wheel is especially important for the safety of high speed railway. In this paper, a new ultrasonic array inspection method, the Full Matrix Capture (FMC) and Total Focus Method (TFM) algorithm, has been studied and applied to the high speed railway wheel inspection, especially in the wheel web from the tread.
