Combination Therapy of Etanercept and Fumarates versus Etanercept Monotherapy in Psoriasis: A Randomized Exploratory Study

open access: yes, 2016
Background: Biologics are a safe and efficacious therapy for psoriasis. The drug survival of biologics may be disappointing, primarily due to loss of efficacy.

The Cancer Cell Metabolic Reprogramming Remodels the Tumor Microenvironment: Molecular Mechanisms and Therapeutic Strategies

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review elucidates how cancer cell metabolic reprogramming—across glucose, lipid, amino acid, and nucleotide pathways—remodels the tumor microenvironment to suppress anti‐tumor immunity and promote immune escape. Targeting these metabolic axes offers promising strategies to overcome immunotherapy resistance and enhance cancer treatment.

The NADPH oxidase NOX4 regulates redox and metabolic homeostasis preventing HCC progression

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
Loss of NOX4 in HCC tumor cells induces metabolic reprogramming in a Nrf2/MYC‐dependent manner to promote HCC progression. Abstract Background and Aims The NADPH oxidase NOX4 plays a tumor‐suppressor function in HCC. Silencing NOX4 confers higher proliferative and migratory capacity to HCC cells and increases their in vivo tumorigenic potential in ...

Carbohydrate‐Directed Labeling Probes for UV‐Independent Chemoproteomic Profiling of Carbohydrate–Protein Interactions

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Modular carbohydrate‐directed labeling probes (CDLPs) convert weak carbohydrate–protein interactions into durable covalent tags in live cells without the need for multivalency or UV irradiation. Ligand binding triggers proximity‐enabled, glycan‐releasing acyl transfer to install a click handle for protein tagging and chemoproteomic profiling.

Targeting the KAT7/H3K14ac/RAC2 Axis Mediates OXPHOS to Promote Stemness Maintenance and Malignancy in Glioblastoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
SOX2 upregulates KAT7 in glioma stem cells, where KAT7 deposits H3K14 acetylation at the RAC2 promoter to activate RAC2 transcription. RAC2‐GTP subsequently promotes PAK1/2/3 phosphorylation, increasing tricarboxylic acid cycle flux and mitochondrial respiration to support glioblastoma malignancy.

Site‐Specific Protein Bioconjugation Through Cellular Incorporation of Noncanonical Amino Acids

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Genetic code expansion (GCE) enables site‐specific installation of noncanonical amino acids containing bioorthogonal conjugation handles, allowing precise, homogeneous protein modification. This review examines the principles of orthogonal translation, surveys the chemistries available for chemoselective labeling, and highlights emerging multi‐site ...

Evolving Patterns of Initial RRMS Treatment in Finland (2013–2022): Insights From a Nationwide Multiple Sclerosis Register

open access: yesBrain and Behavior
Background The treatment of relapsing‐remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS) is changing. There are limited data about initial treatment of RRMS in Finland. Objective Our objectives were to study the trends of initial disease‐modifying treatments (DMTs) for

Sustainable Production of Safe Plasticizers with Bio-Based Fumarates and 1,3-Dienes

open access: yes, 2020
1,2-Cyclohexanedicarboxylates (e.g., di(isononyl) 1,2-cyclohexanedicarboxylate, DINCH) are widely used as safe plasticizers in the polyvinylchloride (PVC) industry, and they are industrially manufactured from petroleum-derived o-xylene.

Interleukin‐1α Mediates Pancreatic Fibroblast Activation, Regulates Immune Cell Recruitment and Fibrosis in Acute and Chronic Pancreatitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
During pancreatitis, IL‐1α is released from necrotic acinar cells. In response to IL‐1α, pancreatic fibroblasts release chemokines and cytokines that regulate the recruitment of immune cells to the damaged organ. Furthermore, IL‐1α primes fibroblasts, resulting in increased tissue fibrosis during chronic pancreatitis.
