Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

On the multiple B-O bonding using the topological analysis of electron localisation function (ELF)

open access: yes, 2014
Topological analysis of the Electron Localisation Function (ELF) within the framework of Quantum Chemical Topology (QCT) has been applied to study the nature of the boron–oxygen bonds.

DYNAMICS OF THE LESLIE-GOWER PREDATOR-PREY MODEL WITH THE BEDDINGTON-DEANGELIS RESPONSE FUNCTION, INCLUDING THE PRESENCE OF INFECTED PREY AND THE FEAR FACTOR OF SUSCEPTIBLE PREY TOWARD PREDATORS

open access: yesJurnal Matematika UNAND
This article presents a stability analysis of the Leslie-Gower predator-prey model that is extended by taking into account prey infection, the presence of prey fear factors towards predators and the Beddington-DeAngelis response function.

A Brief Analysis of Reported Problems in the Use of Function Points

open access: yes, 2016
Know the software size is a key issue to guide the planning and management of a software project. In this context, Function Point Analysis (FPA) has been consolidated as a strategic tool for measuring the functional size of software. The function point metric is the most widespread in the world, but despite its growth has received several criticisms ...

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Critical scaling for spectral functions

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields
We study real-time scalar $$\phi ^4$$ ϕ 4 -theory in 2+1 dimensions near criticality. Specifically, we compute the single-particle spectral function and that of the s-channel four-point function in and outside the scaling regime.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Maximal and minimal iterative positive solutions for singular infinite-point p-Laplacian fractional differential equations

open access: yes, 2019
The existence of maximal and minimal positive solutions for singular infinite-point p-Laplacian fractional differential equation is investigated in this paper.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Weighting Ripley’s K-function to account for the firm dimension in the analysis of spatial concentration [PDF]

open access: yes
The spatial concentration of firms has long been a central issue in economics both under the theoretical and the applied point of view due mainly to the important policy implications.
