Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Nonlinear Inequality, Fixed Point and NashEquilibrium [PDF]

open access: yes
In this paper, we give new sufficient conditions for the existence of a solution of theg-maximum equality. As a consequence, we prove a new fixed point theorem.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

2-Point correlation function of nanostructured materials via the grey-tone correlation function of electron tomograms: A three-dimensional structural analysis of ordered mesoporous silica

open access: yes, 2010
peer reviewedElectron tomography is a unique technique for imaging the microstructure of materials with a nanometer resolution. The signal to noise ratio of electron tomograms is, however, often too low for a reliable segmentation-based image analysis ...

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

PtProcess: An R Package for Modelling Marked Point Processes Indexed by Time

open access: yes
This paper describes the package PtProcess which uses the R statistical language. The package provides a unified approach to fitting and simulating a wide variety of temporal point process or temporal marked point process models. The models are specified

Distance-Based Methods: Ripley’s K function vs. K density function [PDF]

open access: yes
In this paper, we propose an analytical and methodological comparison between two of the most known distance-based methods in the evaluation of the geographic concentration of economic activity.

Multivalued generalizations of fixed point results in fuzzy metric spaces

open access: yes, 2016
This paper attempts to prove fixed and coincidence point results in fuzzy metric space using multivalued mappings. Altering distance function and multivalued strong {bn}-fuzzy contraction are used in order to do that.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.
