Ultraviolet‐C light for prevention of airborne infection: A baseline analysis of web‐based public information

open access: yesPhotochemistry and Photobiology, EarlyView.
This study assesses whether online public information about UVC for airborne infection prevention is clear and actionable. Using the CDC's Clear Communication Index, we found that most health organization websites did not fully achieve basic communication standards.

Could mycorrhizal symbiosis prepare the grapevine to withstand subsequent biotic stresses through changes in the volatilome and ionome of leaves?

open access: yesPlant Biology, EarlyView.
Mycorrhizal symbiosis induced subtle, cultivar‐specific alterations to the leaf ionome and volatilome of grapevines that may confer a stronger‐constitutive defence. Abstract Searching alternatives to chemicals to protect vines against biotic stresses, while minimizing environmental impact, is a priority.

Effect of foot immersion and neck cooling on renal, intestinal, immune and inflammatory markers in older adults exposed to extreme heat

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Older adults with reduced thermoregulatory capabilities are increasingly at risk of heat‐related pathophysiological outcomes (e.g., acute kidney injury, heatstroke) due to increasingly frequent, prolonged and intense heatwaves. Foot immersion and neck cooling have been proposed as practical, non‐electrical cooling strategies for protecting ...

Cheese as a functional food

open access: yes, 2019

Debittering Methods in Lupinus Species: A Comprehensive Review

open access: yesLegume Science, Volume 8, Issue 4, December 2026.
ABSTRACT Lupinus species (spp.), commonly known as lupins, represent a promising source of plant‐based protein and bioactive compounds for food applications. However, their utilization in food products is constrained by the presence of quinolizidine alkaloids, which impart characteristic bitterness and pose toxicity risks.

Assessment of Phytochemical Compounds and Antioxidant Potential of West Indian Avocado (Persea americana) Peel From Substandard‐Quality Fruits as a Valorisation Strategy

open access: yesPhytochemicals in Food and Medicine, Volume 1, Issue 4, December 2026.
West Indian avocado peels discarded because of low‐commercial‐quality were evaluated as a source of bioactive compounds. Avocado peels contained high levels of phenolic compounds and showed strong antioxidant capacity. These results support avocado peel valorisation within functional foods, circular and sustainable food systems.

Circular Valorization of Agricultural Residues Into Food‐Grade Single‐Cell Protein via Carbon‐Fixation Fermentation

open access: yesSustainable Food Proteins, Volume 4, Issue 4, December 2026.
Integrated circular biorefinery concept coupling fruit‐processing residue valorization with renewable H2‐powered CO2 fixation for sustainable, food‐grade single‐cell protein production. ABSTRACT The conversion of agricultural residues into food‐grade single‐cell protein (SCP) has emerged as a promising strategy to simultaneously address increasing ...
