Implications of epigenetic variability within a cell population for cell type classification
Here we propose a new approach to defining nerve ‘cell types’ in reaction to recent advances in single cell analysis. Among cells previously thought to be equivalent, considerable differences in global gene expression and biased tendencies among ...

We describe two modifications that parallelize and reorganize caching in the well-known Greedy Equivalence Search algorithm for discovering directed acyclic graphs on random variables from sample values.

Polyhedrons and Perceptrons Are Functionally Equivalent
Mathematical definitions of polyhedrons and perceptron networks are discussed. The formalization of polyhedrons is done in a rather traditional way. For networks, previously proposed systems are developed. Perceptron networks in disjunctive normal form (DNF) and conjunctive normal forms (CNF) are introduced.

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Functional equivalence and domestication strategies in film translation
One of the charges made against Nida's theory of dynamic equivalence is that “if we follow his injunction to preserve the genius of the target language, it will mean suppressing the Otherness of the source language” (Fawcett 1997).

The tropical oligotrophic oceanic areas are characterized by high water transparency and annual solar radiation. Under these conditions, a large number of phylogenetically diverse mesozooplankton species living in the surface waters (neuston) are found ...

Equivalent functions for the Fresnel integral
Fresnel integral is modeled with three equivalent functions. The first function is derived by considering the sum of the first term of the Fresnel integral's asymptotic expansion {F(x)} and an exponential function which approaches to infinity at the zero of the Fresnel function's argument and has the properties of a unit step function.

Combining osimertinib with the STING agonist ADU‐S100 activates innate and adaptive immunity to overcome the non‐inflamed microenvironment of Egfr‐mutant lung cancer. This combination increases NK and CD8+ T‐cell infiltration, associated with activation of the STING‐IRF3 pathway and local immunogenic cell death.

Matched spatial transcriptomics and single‐nuclei RNA‐seq were generated for anaplastic and BRAFV600E papillary thyroid cancers revealing generic and tumor‐specific states occurring in cancer cells and in the tumor microenvironment. In this context, cancer dedifferentiation mirrored organoid maturation through ordered thyroid marker gain/loss ...

FUNDIO: a lambda-calculus with letrec, case, constructors, and an IO-interface : approaching a theory of unsafePerformIO [PDF]
This paper proposes a non-standard way to combine lazy functional languages with I/O. In order to demonstrate the usefulness of the approach, a tiny lazy functional core language FUNDIO , which is also a call-by-need lambda calculus, is investigated. The
