Plant Enemy-derived Elicitors Increase the Foliar Tannin Concentration of Onobrychis viciifolia Without a Trade-off to Growth [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Background and Aims Molecular experiments suggest that the regulation of the biosynthesis of condensed tannin (CT) is sensitive to the presence of plant enemies.

Induced resistance during the interaction pathogen x plant and the use of resistance inducers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Plants react to aggressions through different defence responses. Mechanical barriers consist in the increase of production and deposition of substances capable of containing pathogen invasion. Chemical barriers consist in the increase of concentration or

Polyamine treatments: an effective strategy to improve crop yield and fruit colour and to preserve quality of ‘Mollar de Elche’ pomegranate fruit during storage at chilling temperatures

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, EarlyView.
Abstract BACKGROUND Climate change in Spain is altering the optimal conditions for producing high‐quality ‘Mollar de Elche’ pomegranate fruit, due to reduced colour development in husk and arils. In addition, the pomegranate requires storage above 7–10 °C, depending on cultivar, to preserve its quality because it is susceptible to chilling injury (CI ...

The MicroRNA miR773 Is Involved in the Arabidopsis Immune Response to Fungal Pathogens

open access: yesMolecular Plant-Microbe Interactions, 2018
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are 21- to 24-nucleotide short noncoding RNAs that trigger gene silencing in eukaryotes. In plants, miRNAs play a crucial role in a wide range of developmental processes and adaptive responses to abiotic and biotic stresses.

Effects of Fungal Elicitor on Lignin Biosynthesis in Cell Suspension Cultures of Soybean [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 1985
Soybean (Glycine max L.) cells cultured in B5 medium produce extremely low amounts of lignin. However, modification in the growth medium, by lowering the concentration of NO(-) (3) and PO(2-) (4), results in the lignification of these cells without affecting levels of cell wall-esterified 4-coumaric and ferulic acid. The production of an extracellular,

Successful Use of Bimekizumab in Refractory Acute Generalised Exanthematous Pustulosis Triggered by Amoxicillin‐Clavulanate

open access: yesJEADV Clinical Practice, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Acute generalised exanthematous pustulosis (AGEP) is a rare, acute neutrophilic dermatosis most commonly triggered by drugs, which typically resolves within 2 weeks following withdrawal of the causative agent. Topical and systemic corticosteroids remain the standard treatment.

Relationship Between Localized Acquired Resistance (LAR) and the Hypersensitive Response (HR): HR Is Necessary for LAR to Occur and Salicylic Acid Is Not Sufficient to Trigger LAR

open access: yesMolecular Plant-Microbe Interactions, 1999
In tobacco plants reacting hypersensitively to pathogen infection, localized acquired resistance (LAR) is induced in a sharp zone surrounding hypersensitive response (HR) lesions.

A DUF3455 domain‐containing protein promotes Ustilaginoidea virens infection and functions as a plant immune elicitor

open access: yesNew Plant Protection, EarlyView.
The fungal effector UvDUF1 from Ustilaginoidea virens not only promotes infection but also acts as a plant immunity elicitor, inducing broad‐spectrum disease resistance in rice and Nicotiana benthamiana. These results reveal its potential as a novel target for sustainable crop protection strategies.

NADPH Oxidase-Mediated Reactive Oxygen Species Production: Subcellular Localization and Reassessment of Its Role in Plant Defense

open access: yesMolecular Plant-Microbe Interactions, 2009
Chemiluminescence detection of reactive oxygen species (ROS) triggered in tobacco BY-2 cells by the fungal elicitor cryptogein was previously demonstrated to be abolished in cells transformed with an antisense construct of the plasma membrane NADPH ...
