Base-promoted cascade recyclization of allomaltol derivatives containing an amide fragment into substituted 3-(1-hydroxyethylidene)tetronic acids

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry
For the first time, recyclization of allomaltol derivatives with an amide fragment in the side chain were investigated. It was shown that the studied process leads to substituted tetronic acids bearing a pyrrolidinone moiety.

Measurements of photo-oxidation products from the reaction of a series of alkyl-benzenes with hydroxyl radicals during EXACT using comprehensive gas chromatography [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2003
Photo-oxidation products from the reaction of a series of alkyl-benzenes, (benzene, toluene, p-xylene and 1,3,5-trimethyl-benzene) with hydroxyl radicals in the presence of NOx have been investigated using comprehensive gas chromatography (GCxGC).

Synthesis of the first C-phosphorylated pyrrol-2(5H)-one. Quantum chemical calculations of the pyrrol-2(5H)one structures [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
A new approach to the synthesis of the first C-phosphorylated pyrrol-2(5H)-one is developed. Direct reaction of 3,4-dichloropyrrol-2(5H)-one with P-nucleophiles fails to give the desired compounds. This fact was explained on the basis of quantum-chemical

Electrosynthesis of dimeric butenolides by C-C-homocoupling in the oxidation of 2,4-diarylfurans under aqueous conditions

open access: yesiScience
Summary: Fast and efficient galvanostatic conversion of 2,4-diarylfurans into dimeric furan-2(5H)-ones is now possible in one pot and good yields at room temperature in sustainable aqueous organic solvent.

Selective Palladium-Mediated Synthesis of Racemic 4,5-Disubstituted 5H- Furan-2-ones from 3-Ynoic Acids and Organic Halides

open access: yes, 1998
Racemic 4,5-disubstitued 5H-furan-2-ones have been selectively synthesized by addition of 1.2-1.6 equiv of aryl, alkenyl or 1-alkynyl halides and catalytic amounts of Pd(OAc)(2) and a soft ligand such as tri-2-furylphosphine or triphenylarsine to the ...

Diastereoselective Mukaiyama Aldol Reaction of 2-(Trimethylsilyloxy)furan Catalyzed by Bismuth Triflate

open access: yes, 2016
We have developed an efficient vinylogous Mukaiyama aldol reaction of 2-(trimethylsilyloxy)furan with various aromatic aldehydes mediated by bismuth triflate in low catalyst loading (1 mol %). The reaction proceeds rapidly and affords the corresponding 5-

Enabling the Development of Furan-based Biorefineries [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Dilute aqueous solutions of furfural were produced in high yield from biomass hydrolysates using an acid-catalyzed batch reactive distillation (BRD) process that separated the vapor phase from the aqueous reactant medium.

Occurrence of Genotoxic Furan-2(5 H )-one in Heated Milk and Pancakes: Key Role of Lactose and Free Radicals during Cooking

open access: yes
Furan-2(5H)-one is a genotoxic α,β-unsaturated lactone occurring naturally in heat-processed foods. Its formation pathways in food systems remain poorly understood.
