2,5-Di(hetero)arylfurans are readily accessible in a pseudo five-component reaction via a Sonogashira–Glaser coupling sequence followed by a superbase-mediated (KOH/DMSO) cyclization in a consecutive one-pot fashion. Besides the straightforward synthesis

Dioxins and Furans as Pollutant Emissions From Integrated Steel Works
In the metallurgical industry are several sources for pollutant emissions but the main source is the sintering process. In this paper are analyzed the generation process of persistent organic pollutant emissions (dioxins and furans) mainly from the ...

Catalytic Conversion of Glucose and Chlorella Sp. Into Furans in the Presence of Niobium Oxide
A series of Nb2O5 solid catalysts have been prepared to be used for the catalytic dehydration of glucose and sugars from algae Chlorella sp. into added value furans. The glucose transformation gave rise to 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (5-HMF).

Formation of furan and furan derivatives in baby food products
A comprehensive analysis of 89 commercial baby food samples showed the highest levels of furan in ready-to-eat full meals and vegetable purees (12-118 μg/kg). The alkylated furans (2- and 3-methylfuran, 2-ethylfuran, 2-pentylfuran) were predominantly found in these baby food categories.

Thermodynamic Functions of Furan and Deuterated Furans
Using the har monic oscillator - rigid rotator approximation and available mole cular and spe ctroscopi c data, the thermodynamic functions (enthalpy and free energy functions, entropy and heat capacity) w ere calculated for furan and three deuterate d .Eurans at one atmosphe r e pressure and for the ideal gaseous state in the temperature range 298.16 ...

Secondary Brown Carbon Formation From Photooxidation of Furans From Biomass Burning
Furans are a major class of volatile organic compounds emitted from biomass burning. Their high reactivity with atmospheric oxidants leads to the formation of secondary organic aerosol (SOA), including secondary brown carbon (BrC) that can affect global ...

On the synthesis of furans and furan fatty acids [PDF]
This thesis describes the use of silver nitrate and iodine to promote 5-endo-dig cyclisations in the synthesis of furans. The oxidation of furylethanols will be discussed as will methods to synthesise furylacetic acids. The total synthesis of a natural product, Plakorsin B will be described along with the total synthesis of the furan fatty acids F5 and
