Journal of the Chemical Society, Perkin Transactions 1, 1972Furazan N-oxides with a strained ring bridging the 3- and 4-positions are progressively deoxygenated by trialkyl phosphites, forming furazans, which can in some cases be isolated, and dinitriles. Heating in the presence of an acetylene forms bis(nitrile oxide) adducts (isoxazoles), with the more highly-strained types.

Gas-phase cyclodecomposition of furazane and furazane N-oxide
Bulletin of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR Division of Chemical Science, 19871. The thermal decomposition of furazane in the gas phase proceeds by a biradical mechanism with the nonsynchronous cleavage of the N-O and C-C bonds in the ring. 2. The gas-phase monomolecular cyclodecomposition of furoxane is facilitated by 4–6 kcal/mole and proceeds by a concerted mechanism.

The structures of furazans and furoxans
Chemistry of Heterocyclic Compounds, 1966The IR spectra of furazans and furoxans are characterized by lowered values of frequencies and of integrated absorption band intensities for the C=N bands. The peculiarities of the UV absorption spectra of these compounds are similar to those of pyridine and its benzene analogs in comparison with the corresponding N-oxides.

Furazans and furazan oxides. 7. Interconversions of anthranils, benzofurazan oxides, and indazoles
The Journal of Organic Chemistry, 19777-Nitroanthranil (1, R = R = H) and 4-formylbenzofurazan oxide (2, R = R' = H) equilibrate on heating. The latter condenses with primary amines and the resulting imines rearrange to 7-nitroindazoles (8). The corresponding 6-methoxy and 6-chloro derivatives of 1 behave similarly.
