RNA interference in crop protection: opportunities and challenges during the transition to commercialization

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
RNA interference (RNAi) technologies, host‐induced gene silencing (HIGS) and spray‐induced gene silencing (SIGS), potentially offer sustainable crop protection. However, efficacy, costs, regulatory clarity, and socio‐environmental impacts require further evaluation for broader use.

Integrated disease management [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Integrated disease management in organic farming combines the use of various measures. The usefulness of certain measures depends on the specific crop-pathogen combination.

How does leaf age affect performance? A comparative study of essential oils from young and mature Eucalyptus globulus leaves in crop protection

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Leaf age influences metabolomic profiling but not bioactivity of Eucalyptus globulus essential oils. Leaf age affects volatile levels of young and adult E. globulus oils, but not their bioactivity. Young leaf essential oil had higher contents of α‐ and β‐pinene. AEEO had higher levels of 1,8‐cineole and trans‐pinocarveol.

Targeting Fusarium solani Enzymes Molecular Docking and Experimental Insights for a New Coumarin Derivative [PDF]

open access: yesTikrit Journal for Agricultural Sciences
Fusarium solani is one of the most important root pathogens, causing root rot and tissue decomposition, reducing the plant's ability to absorb nutrients and water.

The continuing significance of chiral agrochemicals

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 81, Issue 4, Page 1697-1716, April 2025.
In the time frame 2018–2023, around 43% of the 35 chiral agrochemicals introduced to the market (herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, acaricides, and nematicides) contain one or more stereogenic centers in the molecule, and almost 69% of them have been marketed as racemic mixtures of enantiomers or stereoisomers.

Environmental Mycotoxins and Brain Health: Protective Role of Bromelain Against Fumonisin B1 in SH‐SY5Y Cells

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Fumonisin B1 (FB1), a mycotoxin commonly found in contaminated food and feed, has been increasingly implicated in neurotoxicity, although its mechanisms remain poorly understood. This study investigates the neurotoxic potential of FB1 in human SH‐SY5Y neuroblastoma cells, both undifferentiated and RA‐differentiated, and evaluates the ...

Biological efficacy of chitosan nanoparticles and black poplar buds ethanolic extract against potato dry rot

open access: yesRUDN Journal of Agronomy and Animal Industries
The purpose of the recent study was to evaluate the effectiveness of chitosan nanoparticles (CSNP) and black poplar buds extract (BpE) to protect potato tubers from post-harvest Fusarium dry rot.

Mycotoxins‐contaminated wheat matrices bioconversion by Tenebrio molitor larvae (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae)

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
Larval development time, ADG, survival rate and substrate consumption were not negatively affected by the levels of mycotoxins contamination Larvae excreted most of the ingested DON and its derivatives through exuviae and frass The mycotoxin accumulation rates observed in larvae were always below the current legal limits for livestock feed Abstract ...

Favourable outcome of Fusarium prosthetic valve endocarditis in a patient with an Ebstein anomaly

open access: yesSouthern African Journal of Infectious Diseases
Fungal endocarditis is rare, challenging to diagnose and treat and associated with high mortality. We describe a case of Fusarium solani endocarditis in a patient with Ebstein’s anomaly with a favourable outcome. Contribution: We emphasise that surgical

Breeding for sustainable palm oil [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
As an actor of a supply chain, seed producers must take into account the impact of their work on sustainability. This is particularly true when one works on oil palm, a highly sensitive crop which is questioned on its social and environmental impact ...
