Comparison of Maize Resistance to Ear Rot Under Artificial Infection with Fusarium Graminearum and Fusarium Moniliforme

Cereal Research Communications, 1997
The most important lines and commercial maize hybrids were tested for resistance in two-year trials under artificial infection with Fusarium graminearum and Fusarium moniliforme. The applied methods of artificial ear infection and 1-9 rating scale proved successful, because significant differences among the tested genotypes were obtained. In artificial

Morphological, molecular and pathogenicity characteristics of Fusarium verticillioides causing Fusarium ear rot of corn in Panama

Microbial Pathogenesis
Zea mays is the second most popular cereal crop in Panama. Its production is intended for human and livestock consumption but is threatened by several diseases. We report the occurrence of Fusarium ear rot, a disease that has affected corn production in a specific region of Panama.

Gibberella ear rot of corn caused by Fusarium asiaticum in Japan

Journal of General Plant Pathology, 2015
Ear rot with white or pink mold was found on corn (Zea mays L.). A species of Fusarium, not registered previously as a pathogen causing Gibberella ear rot of corn in Japan, was isolated from the rotted ear. The isolates, identified as F. asiaticum based on morphological characteristics and nucleotide sequences, caused white or pink mold on corn ear ...

Nitrogen effects on maize susceptibility to Fusarium ear rot (Fusarium verticillioides)

2018
Ear rot caused by Fusarium species is serious problem for maize growers. Fusarium car rot, European corn borer attack and length of car in maize were assessed after inoculation with Fusarium verticillioides in condition of fertilization with different sources of nitrogen.

Screening maize for resistance to Fusarium verticillioides ear rot

Cereal research communications, 2008
The objective of this study was to identify resistant commercial hybrids and to evaluate a genetically diverse collection of inbreds as a potential source of resistance to F. verticillioides. Results of the present study showed that the following hybrids can be recommended as resistant to F.

Susceptibility of maize inbred lines to Fusarium ear rot

2011
Severity of Fusarium Ear Rot of maize is influenced by several factors and among them one of the most important is genotype susceptibility. We determined differences in genotype susceptibility to Ear Rot in field trials and with laboratory analyses, after artifical inoculation with isolates of Fusarium graminearum, Fusarium verticillioides and Fusarium

Relationships Among Ear Morphology, Western Flower Thrips, and Fusarium Ear Rot of Corn

Phytopathology, 1991
The relationships among insects, corn (Zea mays) ear morphology, and ear rot caused by Fusarium moniliforme were studied in 1988 and 1989. Silks on ears of two corn hybrids, one susceptible to Fusarium ear rot and one with an intermediate level of resistance, received applications of the insecticides acephate or carbaryl at the green silk stage before ...

Isolating resistance genes against Fusarium ear rot in maize.

2011
We investigated global gene expression in maize ears at several time points after infection with Fusarium verticillioides. In kernels at 48 h post infection with a fumonisin-producing strain, about 800 differentially expressed sequences were identified and nearly 10% assigned to the category cell rescue, defence and virulence.
