RECENT OCCURRENCE OF FUSARIUM OXYSPORUM F. SP. CUBENSE TROPICAL RACE 4 IN ASIA [PDF]

open access: yesActa Horticulturae, 2009
Fusarium wilt, caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense (Foc), is an important disease of banana in almost all banana-producing countries of the world. The recent occurrence of a highly virulent form of Foc in Asia, known as ‘tropical race 4’ (TR4), presents an imminent threat to the region’s Cavendish-based banana industries.

The “Pesticide Chip”: Chemical Legacies and Agrarian Futures in Costa Rica

open access: yesAntipode, Volume 58, Issue 2, March 2026.
Abstract For decades, agro‐industrial capital has adopted cascading chemical and biotechnical interventions, or fixes, to secure accumulation through the cultivation of monocrops. We develop a framework that centres on how monocrop‐induced susceptibility to pests and pathogens—and the patchwork of fixes to address these—produces uneven chemical ...

Bactérias endofíticas autóctones de Musa sp. controla Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense em condições in vitro

open access: yes, 2022
Murcha de Fusarium causada por Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense (foc) é uma das principais doenças que afetam a cultura da banana. O controle biológico surge como uma tecnologia alternativa para evitar a propagação da doença.

Mechanistic Insights for Microbiome Application in Plant Disease Resistance

open access: yesMolecular Plant Pathology, Volume 27, Issue 3, March 2026.
This review summarises the mechanisms underlying plant‐guided microbiome modulation and probiotic‐mediated disease suppression. Additionally, it highlights the challenges to be addressed for a better microbiome application of disease resistance in sustainable agriculture and proposes possible strategies. Figure was created with BioRender.

Purification of phytotoxic metabolites from culture filtrate of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense gcv 01210 (race 1)

open access: yesBiotecnología Vegetal, 2011
Panama disease, caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense, is considered a destructive disease of economic importance in the genus Musa. The culture filtrates of the pathogen have been used to differentiate cultivars, but have not been identified ...

Transgene‐Free, Gene‐Edited Cavendish Bananas (Musa acuminata, AAA)

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 24, Issue 3, Page 1620-1634, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Global consumer acceptance of gene‐edited food crops is increasing with new breeding technologies that can modify the genome without foreign DNA integration. Here, we report an Agrobacterium‐based system for transgene‐free, gene editing of the banana cultivar, Cavendish.

Occurrence and spread of the banana fungus Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense TR4 in Mozambique

open access: yesSouth African Journal of Science, 2020
Fusarium wilt, caused by the soil-borne fungus Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense (Foc), poses a major threat to banana production globally. A variant of Foc that originated in Southeast Asia, called tropical race 4 (TR4), was detected on a Cavendish banana export plantation (Metocheria) in northern Mozambique in 2013.

A Continuum of Pre‐Activated, Early, Coordinated and Multilayered Transcriptional Defence Responses Underpins Enhanced Resistance to Fusarium oxysporum in Vanilla planifolia

open access: yesPlant Pathology, Volume 75, Issue 2, March/April 2026.
In Vanilla planifolia, CR0020 resistance to Fusarium wilt is linked to early (4–8 hpi) ERF/MYB/WRKY reprogramming and a preactivated transcriptional state, activating ROS, lignification and phytoalexins. ABSTRACT Vanilla planifolia, the main species cultivated for vanilla production, is severely threatened by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. radicis‐vanillae (
