FUSION PORES AND FUSION MACHINES IN CA2+-TRIGGERED EXOCYTOSIS
Annual Review of Biophysics and Biomolecular Structure, 2006Exocytosis is initiated within a highly localized region of contact between two biological membranes. Small areas of these membranes draw close, molecules on the two surfaces interact, and structural transformations take place. Membrane fusion requires the action of proteins specialized for this task, and these proteins act as a fusion machine.

PERSISTENT FUSION PORES BUT TRANSIENT FUSION IN ALVEOLAR TYPE II CELLS
Cell Biology International, 2000AbstractThe release of vesicle contents following exocytotic fusion is limited by various factors including the size of the fusion pore. Fusion pores are channel‐like, narrow structures after formation and proceed through semi‐stable states (‘fusion pore flickering’), unless they fully expand (full fusion) or close again (transient fusion).

Influence of laser post-processing on pore evolution of Ti–6Al–4V alloy by laser powder bed fusion
, 2020In laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) processes, critical defect issues such as porosity limit the quality of the fabricated part. This work investigates the mechanism of pore evolution during the laser post-processing of an LPBF part.

Conflicting Views on the Membrane Fusion Machinery and the Fusion Pore
Annual Review of Cell and Developmental Biology, 2009Fast exocytosis of synaptic vesicles differs from other membrane fusion reactions by being under tight temporal control by the intracellular calcium concentration. This is achieved by subjecting the SNARE-dependent fusion pathway to additional layers of control, both upstream and downstream of the assembly of the fusogenic SNARE-complex.
