Fusion-protein-assisted protein crystallization [PDF]

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section F Structural Biology Communications, 2015
Fusion proteins can be used directly in protein crystallization to assist crystallization in at least two different ways. In one approach, the `heterologous fusion-protein approach', the fusion partner can provide additional surface area to promote crystal contact formation.

An engineered T-cell engager with selectivity for high mesothelin-expressing cells and activity in the presence of soluble mesothelin

open access: yesOncoImmunology, 2023
Mesothelin (MSLN) is an attractive immuno-oncology target, but the development of MSLN-targeting therapies has been impeded by tumor shedding of soluble MSLN (sMSLN), on-target off-tumor activity, and an immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment.

Fusion Protein Cleavage Site Containing Three Basic Amino Acids Attenuates Newcastle Disease Virus in Chicken Embryos: Use as an in ovo Vaccine

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2022
In ovo vaccination is an attractive immunization strategy for the poultry industry. However, although most live Newcastle disease virus (NDV) vaccine strains, such as LaSota and V4, can be used after hatching, they are pathogenic to chicken embryos when ...

Epigenetic and Transcriptional Signaling in Ewing Sarcoma—Disease Etiology and Therapeutic Opportunities

open access: yesBiomedicines, 2022
Ewing sarcoma (EwS), a type of bone and soft tissue tumor, is mainly driven by the expression of the fusion protein EWSR1-FLI1. Upon binding to chromatin, EWSR1-FLI1 reprograms the epigenetic state, alters gene expression, and thus leads to tumorigenesis.

Cloning and Expression of a Fusion Protein Containing Highly Epitopic Regions of Clostridium perfringens Epsilon Toxin and Clostridium novyi Alpha Toxin [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Cell and Molecular Research, 2021
Clostridium perfringens and novyi species are two important toxin-producing pathogens which pose a risk to the livestock health. Epsilon and alpha toxins are major toxins of these two pathogens, respectively. Advances in current vaccine industrialization

Engineering a New IFN-ApoA-I Fusion Protein with Low Toxicity and Prolonged Action

open access: yesMolecules, 2023
Recombinant human interferon alpha-2b (rIFN) is widely used in antiviral and anticancer immunotherapy. However, the high efficiency of interferon therapy is accompanied by a number of side effects; this problem requires the design of a new class of ...

Adult Memory T Cell Responses to the Respiratory Syncytial Virus Fusion Protein During a Single RSV Season (2018–2019)

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2022
Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is ubiquitous and re-infection with both subtypes (RSV/A and RSV/B) is common. The fusion (F) protein of RSV is antigenically conserved, induces neutralizing antibodies, and is a primary target of vaccine development ...
